Introduction

"Feel the Flow, Here We Go!"

The logo for the Energy in Motion pavilion, 1997.

Energy in Motion sought to bring Epcot into the 21st century while also being a celebration of Epcot's 15th anniversary and Walt Disney World's 25th anniversary, ushering in a new age of theme park thrills and Epcot edutainment. Rather than passively educating guests with classic attractions such as Horizons or Spaceship Earth, Energy in Motion sought to be the first of several Epcot pavilion overhauls that will put the guest in the middle of the action - a successful model of attraction design that has been seen throughout the 1990s and culminated with E-ticket additions to Epcot such as Test Track in 1999 and Mission: SPACE in 2003.

Within the walls of the new Energy in Motion pavilion - the entire interior of the former Universe of Energy was gutted and renovated to be one complete structure. Moreover, the pavilion was expanded in terms of length and height in order to accommodate more show-building space making the Energy in Motion pavilion one of the largest pavilions in all of Future World in terms of square footage.

As detailed in the map above, guests will meander towards the entrance atrium and be thrust into the world of K'Nex, the pavilion's new sponsor. Here, guests will be able to learn about how energy is created, how atoms and molecules form the energy that surrounds us, and how to build a thrilling roller-coaster. This pavilion is stylized to be Epcot's kid and young adult-friendly pavilion. With several interactive exhibits, model coaster rooms, a junior coaster for little thrill-seekers, and Walt Disney World's fastest and most daring roller coaster yet - The Examiner, featuring the first ride that inverts guests (twice!).

Also inside the pavilion, guests will have the opportunity of family dining at Kinetic Kitchen, serving away an array of colorful creations. Guests will also be able to shop till they drop with various retail and memorabilia options as well. Finally, guests will be able to meet "Adam the Atom" one of the pavilion's star mascots, adding to Epcot's strong lineup of original theme-park characters including Buzzy and Figment.
