Teaching is the most critical and rewarding part of academic life for me. I embrace the privilege and responsibilities of teaching to help students critically engage with many of the vexing social issues we face today. My teaching philosophy closely aligns with ASU’s Charter to provide an inclusive learning environment, and I have a deep commitment to student success.

Teaching Awards
I received the ASU Centennial Professorship Award, the University-wide recognition for “engaged scholarship, leadership, community service, and exemplary student-centered practices at Arizona State University”. I also received the Superior Teaching and Research (STAR) Award from the Pennsylvania State University.
Courses I Teach Regularly
APA 360: Asian American Immigrant Health & JUS 347: Immigration, Education and the Family. I also teach courses on research methods (JUS 301) and statistical analysis (JUS 302).
Beyond the Classroom
As a member of Asian Pacific American Studies at ASU, I contribute to the community education outreach program to work with Asian American and Pacific Islander high school students during summer.
