Yaning (Jerry) Li, also known as "李亚宁" in Chinese, is a boy born in 2004, majoring in Industrial Design Engineering. Now he is a third-year undergraduate student enrolled in the dual-degree program between Xi'an Jiaotong University and Politecnico di Milano.
His research interests are HCI and design engineering. Through working with researchers from multi-disciplinary fields during his undergraduate study journey, Yaning Li has experience in various topics, including XR, HAI, biomechanics, materials design and fabrication, social computing, robotics, neuroscience, and human factors engineering. He publishes in both design and HCI conference and journal venues, his maiden work was awarded the Best Student Paper Award in AHFE 2024, a top-tier conference in design and human factors engineering field. Now he focuses on the topic of SUSTAINABILITY, especially exploring how HCI and design engineering can contribute to both human and environmental health. Yaning is also the co-founder and student director of Applied Smart Interaction Lab (ASIL) at Xi'an Jiaotong University.
Yaning Li is the youngest awardee of the Excellent Undergraduate Student Model (Only 10 awardees annually) at Xi'an Jiaotong University in the past 26 years. He also received National Scholarship (Top 0.02%), Future Scholar Fellowship for Young Talents (Only 3 awardees in Mechanical and Civil Engineering in a Province) and other top-tier competitions home and abroad, including James Dyson Award (2023, 2024), China International College Students' Innovation Competition (4 Golden Medals in 2023, 2024, TOP 0.01%). He is seeking a PhD position in HCI or Engineering starting from 2026 Fall.
