Graduate students
We are actively looking for talent and ambitious graduate students in the field of chemical engineering, biomaterials, biochemistry, biomedical engineering, biological engineering, or biocatalysis to join our team.
Postdoctoral researchers
A Biomaterials/Biocatalysis postdoctoral researcher position
A biomaterials/biocatalysis postdoctoral researcher position in the Yang group will be available at The University of Missouri, Columbia (Mizzou), Department of Chemical and Biomedical Engineering, starting from January 2025. The successful candidate will carry out research on developing hybrid biocatalysts based on the combination of enzymes and synthetic compartment materials including metal-organic materials (MOMs) and polymeric materials, broadly defined. The primary tasks include enzyme loading to/immobilizing in synthetic materials, characterization of the resultant biocomposites, and structure-function relationship studies via typical biophysical approaches. Minimal request is a Ph.D. in biochemistry, biocatalysis, biomaterials, or biophysics by January 2025. Priority will be given to individuals with experience and peer-reviewed publications in enzyme immobilization and biocatalytic reactions. Mizzou is the flagship university in Missouri and one of the Association of American Universities (AAUs). In addition to standard medical insurance and Mizzou employee benefits, the successful candidate will receive an annual salary of $55,000-$59,000, depending on experience. Special cases can be negotiated in a case-by-case manner. The position will start with a one-year contract which is renewable based on performance. Interested individuals should directly contact Dr. Yang at zhongyuyang.ucla@gmail.com or zhongyu.yang@missouri.edu
A Biochemistry/Biophysics postdoctoral researcher position
A Biochemistry/Biophysics postdoctoral re searcher position in the Yang group will be available at The University of Missouri, Columbia (Mizzou), Department of Chemical and Biomedical Engineering, starting from January 2025. The successful candidate will carry out research on probing the interac tion of protein conducting channels with substrate proteins. The primary tasks include transmembrane protein expression, purifica tion, and reconstitution in lipid bilayers as well as the biophysical characterization of the relevant protein-translocation processes. Minimal request is a Ph.D. in transmem brane protein biochemistry or biophysics by January 2025. Priority will be given to indi viduals with experience and peer-reviewed publications in the Translocases of Outer Mitochondrial Membrane (TOM) and the Translocases of Inner Mitochondrial Mem brane (TIM).
