The Evolution of Yamaha's Arrangers: Sound comparison

It's been a long long way...

In this page you'll find a quick reference table of some "basic" (bread & butter) sounds in every flagship arranger model in Yamaha's history, from the PS-6100 (1984), the oldest one, to the Genos (2017), the most recent model to date (as of February 2023), so you can make a comparison and get an idea of the evolution in sound quality and realism.  The chosen instrument voices had to be present in every model, so the comparison table is limited to five voices: Acoustic Piano, Electric Piano, Tonewheel Organ, Nylon Guitar, Strings Ensemble and Brass Ensemble.

Please keep in mind that as I haven't got any of the Tyros models, all the sounds marked with an asterisk (*), although corresponding to the preset list of the relevant model, have been recorded from a Genos, so there might be slight differences in sound due to different D/A converters and/or to different effects settings.
