YAMAHA's Vintage Flagship Arrangers Website

Information, Opinions and Resources about Yamaha's Vintage (pre-Tyros) Top-of-the-line Arranger Keyboards

Welcome to my website about vintage (pre-Tyros) flagship models of arranger keyboards from Yamaha. In this site you'll find some information (technical and non-technical), opinions, pictures, sounds and resources about the top-of-the-line (and very expensive at the time) models of every generation of arrangers from the Japanese brand from 1984 to 2001, before the release of the first generation of the Tyros in 2002.

This website is mainly the result of my personal interest in collecting those models. During the last years I've been trying to get every flagship model in the second-hand market for my own collection. The main reason is a nostalgic one: those keyboards (especially the older ones) were released when I was just a kid. As my family hadn't much money back then and those keyboards were really expensive, I could only dream of owning and playing them some day. My first keyboard was a Yamaha PSR-12 back in 1987, the cheapest model  with full sized keys, which I could finally buy after a whole year of hard savings, avoiding almost every other expense. Fortunately, things have become better over time and along the years I've been able to acquire a good bunch of "serious" synthesizers and arrangers, but there's been always a place in my heart for those "ancient" machines. As long as the prices on the second-hand market have dropped quite a lot, I've been able to build a quite good collection of these gems :)

You can navigate the menu to access directly to the page of the corresponding model. The models are ordered by their release date, and they have in common the fact that when they were released, they were the most advanced (and expensive) models of the whole Yamaha's line of arranger keyboards.

In a chronological order, the models are:

Finally, there's a tiny extra section showing a quick overview of the evolution in sound quality and realism of Yamaha's flagship arrangers.

I hope you'll enjoy this site as much as I've enjoyed creating it and playing those beasts!!
