I've been sewing these dudes!
Completely hand-sewn, and I do tight whip-stitches, which is 'wrong' I guess. None are perfect; I'm not highly skilled at this. They are cuddly and sturdy though.
All have Poly-Fil "silky." It slides like Squishmallow filling, but you won't get all the squish out of it as the minkies I use aren't as stretchy.
Ladder stitch closures are on the top of the head.
Ears/antennae used interchangeably. Measurements taken in plushes' relaxed state and aren't exact.
Current versions
Most recent pattern iterations. Fairly consistent. Moved into some taller wings when I was playing with stretchier minky.
Furry - $25
Front of the ears and body, as well as the entire leg and wing, are super short pile black stretch minky. Stretch is horizontal.
Back of the body and antennae are black faux fur, hand-trimmed.
Fur gets messy but a quick brushing gets your Mothman all luxurious-like.
I have four of these available.
8" tall, 11" wide
Their armpits are sensitive. I'm adding additional stitches when I'm done with this entire page, but they may need an additional touch-up.
Wise Mothman - $15
Note: my phone is really struggling with the color of the eyes.
2.5ish mm pile, very dense minky with thick backing. No stretch. (RIP Joann's)
I have 11 of these guys. Eye height varies.
8ish" tall, 10.5" wide
Classic Mothman (Stretch) - $15
Super short pile black stretch minky. Stretches horizontally like it's got places to be.
3 of these guys in proper direction.
8ish" tall, 10.5ish" wide
Classic stretch (wrong way) - $10
Someone didn't check their directions. It was me, I didn't.
Two of these guys. They stretch vertically, and as a result they are 9" tall and 10" wide.
Doubloons - $15
Similar stretch and external short pile, but slightly denser minky that is double-sided (although you just deal with one side). He is wide.
8" tall, 11.5" wide
These are the last mothmen I've made and still have my cut outs ready when it's time to get back into sewing. I paused for a bit, and the injury is on my index finger RIGHT where I would put a rubber/leather thimble or leather band to protect from accidental poking, so it's going to be a while before I can finish the rest.
If you think any of these eyes look best please let me know though. The black reads the best, and I think red might be a bad contrast but I'm open to trying it. The pink definitely blends in and I'm not sure I have any bluer bodies offhand.
Rainbow Mothman - $15
More "pan" I guess, with some color blending.
This minky is a little thinner, very stretchy, and I want to surround myself with it permanently because it is obscenely soft.
One with black eyes, one with dark blue eyes, one with pink eyes.
8.5ish" tall and 11ish" wide
Cherry Creme - $15
Shannon cuddle 3 "Blush," with chocolate brown safety eyes.
Don't eat his eyes, he needs them to see lamp.
8ish" tall, 10ish" wide
Albino Mothman - $10
Close eyes.
Short pile white minky - no stretch. Visible pattern from color
8" tall, 10" wide
Albino Mothman - $10
Same as above, just with eyes in a position I'm happier with. Visible pattern from color
8" tall, 10" wide
Misc fellas
Older, testing, goofy proportioned Mothmen / leggy-sperm Fresno boys
Speaking of bois, I've misread Charybdis as Chardybois for so long that it's stuck
$5 each
Bell bottoms Fresno guy, larger left eye, grey thread.
White short pile minky - no stretch
8.5" tall
"Fresno1"
8" tall, 10" wide
Stripes
Fabric is not AS soft as minky, and 3mm pile. Stripes are grey or blue-grey, I can't even tell, with white. Slight horizontal stretch. Slightly understuffed and has beads in his flat butt and feet.
"Stripes1"
More stripes, same as above.
He is also a little understuffed, but does not have butt beads. ...beads in his butt... you know what, stop it.
8" tall, 10" wide
"Stripes2"
8" tall, 10" wide
Front is Shannon cuddle 3 "Blush" pink minky, back is the same fabric from Stripes1.
"MultiRE"
8" tall, 10" wide
Same as above. Eyes are a little high.
"MultiBE"
RIP Joann
2-2.5mm ish pile length, no stretch whatsoever, very dense fuzziness. Fabric is thicker and while I lament the loss of Joann's, in all honesty I would prefer not to sew this stuff by hand again. Good thing I have A BUNCH OF IT.
8" tall, 9.5" wide
(Wise) Mothman's ears are a little smaller than is my typical now, proportions overall are a little funky. The antennae and body have the fabric direction upside down.
"OldWM"
This goofy goober might have been freehanded, I don't remember. It's ya boy uh, skinny legs.
Inconsistencies with fabric direction: antennae, wings, and legs stretch vertically, body stretches horizontally.
8" tall, 9" wide
"Goober"
Super short pile stretch minky - horizontal stretch.
Placed the first eye wrong, patched with pink thread.
8" tall, 11" wide
"Blushing"
