Spring 2023 Session 3/18-4/22
We'll start off the session with some classic problems, puzzles, and riddles in math. The Light Switch problem, Goat, Cabbage, and Wolf problem, and Total Legs problem, to name a few!
Through some fun and engaging exercises involving isomorphism, coloring, and directional graphs, students will get a good glimpse at the more abstract side of math.
Let's roll up our sleeves and get constructing! Starting with Euclid's Axioms, we'll explore everything we can make and why using just a straight-edge and a compass.
Who says math isn't fun? This week we'll learn about (and play!) the classic games of Game Theory and Number Theory. We'll strategize our way through Chicken, Tic-Tac-Toe, Nim, and others!
In this session, we'll explore some fascinating and perhaps surprising patterns with numbers. We'll also take a look at fractals, and students will get the chance to create their own.
This week, by popular demand, we'll look at two fields that use Applied Math, Statistics and Physics!
