This is the final iteration of Xylumos. It includes four keys with pressure sensors and paper towels (to trigger the sensors) in between that change the lights when hit, and a button that changes the color combinations of the lights. The inside is painted white to better showcase the lights. In addition to the haptic feedback, Xylumos features rounded edges and is painted a bright, happy yellow to be attractive and safe for kids.
This was one of the earlier iterations of Xylumos (without electronics because they hadn't arrived yet.) We would have put the pressure sensors in between the transparent acrylic keys, and had the wood stained dark. We quickly realized that the transparent keys would not work, as the pressure sensors would show through. Thus, in our final iteration, we attached a wood piece to our top acrylic piece (quite ingeniously with Scotch tape). We also decided to change the color of Xylumos to appeal more to the kids.
