TIPS AND TRICKS
🌐 Ads that pop up on-screen? Excessive ads?
XViewer never injects ads into web pages or generates pop-ups. Any pop-ups you see come directly from the websites you visit. We strictly follow Google’s AdMob policies to ensure a clean, safe browsing experience.
Want a total ad-free app experience? Unlock 24 hours of ad-free Premium Mode anytime by selecting the "Watch Ad" button in the app's subscription dialog (subscribe for a permanent benefit).
🔑 Forgotten PIN recovery
After choosing your app's security pin, please set up the "Recovery Challenge" option, as it is the only way you get can back into the app in case you forget your pin code. Reinstalling the app does not automatically get rid of the pin code protection.
🏠 Home screen shortcut
If your device is configured with 3-button navigation, a long press on the back button will take you directly to the home screen.
🤔 Long press for tips
Not sure about what a certain interface element does? Just long-press it for a quick description. Most icons and menus support this interface gesture.
📂 Gallery folder items
Want to know how many photos or videos are in a folder? Just pull down to refresh, and the item count will show briefly on screen.
🕔 Gallery downloads folder
New downloads from the integrated browser get automatically fetched shortly after the gallery loads. You can also manually refresh the downloads folder by selecting "Fetch New Downloads" from the menu.
📷 Picture downloading
Yes, you can download JPEG images directly from websites that provide that option. XViewer's built-in image viewer can handle very high-resolution images, including up to 8K and, in some cases, even 10K.
⛔ Rejected downloads
If a downloaded file doesn't appear in your gallery, it may have been flagged as potentially harmful. XViewer uses Android's thumbnail generation as a safety check. If a thumbnail can't be created by the system, the file is likely damaged or suspicious and is discarded to protect your device. Files already downloaded are discarded as well.
🥳 Additional backup storage space
Google's free tier includes 15GB of storage, shared across your Gmail, Photos, Drive files, device backups, and other Google services. If you find yourself needing more space for your gallery content, you can easily upgrade to a paid Google One plan, which offers options up to 2TB. You can, of course, use the backup and restore feature to just transfer your Private Gallery contents to a new device.
🏁 Very long backup and restore operations (5h+)
For technical reasons related to Android's background processing limits, gallery backup and restore operations will pause after 5 hours. Don't worry, this doesn't mean the operation failed. It will automatically resume later in another 5-hour session. The same 5-hour limit applies to manually initiated backups and restores.
🔋 Battery optimization
You don't need to restrict XViewer's background battery usage. When minimized, the app by itself pauses all website activity, preventing battery drain. Allowing unrestricted background operation ensures a seamless experience without unnecessary restarts.
