XR Hardware Check is a diagnostic utility for supported Meta Quest headsets.
This Privacy Policy explains how information is processed when you use XR Hardware Check or contact its operator for support.
XR Hardware Check is operated by:

XR Hardware Check may read and process the following technical information on your headset:
Headset model and manufacturer
Android and API version
Battery percentage and charging status
Device thermal status
Available system memory
Application memory usage
Available and total storage
Reported display refresh rate
Application panel dimensions and density
Application panel frame-cadence information
Current application-session duration
Pointer and panel-input events
Diagnostic checklist selections
Saved diagnostic-report results
This information is used to display diagnostic information and provide the app’s features.
The information is processed locally on the headset and is not transmitted to Alfie Mckiernan or XR Hardware Check.
Users may choose to save diagnostic reports inside the app.
A saved report may contain:
Headset model
Date and time of the report
Battery percentage
Thermal status
Reported refresh rate
Current panel FPS
Minimum panel FPS recorded during a test
User-confirmed diagnostic checklist results
Reports are stored within the app’s private local storage on the headset.
XR Hardware Check does not upload or remotely access saved diagnostic reports.
Users can:
Delete individual reports from the Reports page
Clear all saved reports
Clear the app’s local data through device settings
Remove all locally stored app data by uninstalling the app
Because reports are not sent to the operator, the operator cannot remotely retrieve, restore or delete them.
The current version of XR Hardware Check:
Does not require an account
Does not collect names or postal addresses
Does not collect payment-card information
Does not upload diagnostic reports
Does not include advertising
Does not use third-party advertising SDKs
Does not use an operator-controlled analytics service
Does not track users across other apps
Does not access photographs or contacts
Does not sell personal information
Purchases, Store accounts and payment processing are handled by Meta under Meta’s own terms and privacy practices.
When you contact truffle.discord@outlook.com, the operator may receive information you voluntarily provide, including:
Your email address
Your name, if included
The content of your message
Screenshots
Device or diagnostic information
Attachments you choose to send
This information will be used to:
Respond to your support request
Investigate technical problems
Improve reliability and compatibility
Prevent misuse
Comply with applicable legal obligations
The lawful basis for processing support correspondence may include performing or taking steps connected with the agreement to provide the app, legitimate interests in supporting and improving the app, and compliance with legal obligations.
Support correspondence will normally be retained for up to 12 months after the request has been resolved.
It may be retained for longer where reasonably necessary for an unresolved dispute, security investigation or legal obligation.
These legal pages are hosted using Google Sites.
When a visitor opens the website, Google may process technical information required to provide its services, such as:
IP address
Browser type
Device information
Access time
Cookies or similar technologies
This processing is controlled by Google and is governed by Google’s own privacy policies.
XR Hardware Check does not add a separate analytics service, advertising system or custom tracking technology to these pages.
XR Hardware Check does not sell personal information or locally stored diagnostic reports.
Information sent in a support request may be disclosed only where reasonably necessary to:
Email or hosting service providers
Professional advisers
Courts, regulators or law-enforcement authorities where legally required
A successor operator if ownership of XR Hardware Check is transferred
Only information reasonably necessary for the relevant purpose will be disclosed.
Information stored locally by the app remains on the headset until the user:
Deletes the relevant report
Clears all reports
Clears the app’s storage
Uninstalls the app
Support communications are normally retained for up to 12 months after resolution.
Information may be deleted earlier where it is no longer required.
Reasonable steps are taken to protect support information controlled by the operator.
However, no headset, email provider, hosting service or electronic-storage system can be guaranteed to be completely secure.
Users are responsible for protecting access to their headset, Meta account and email account.
XR Hardware Check does not knowingly request personal information directly from children through the application.
A parent or guardian who believes that a child has sent personal information to the support email may contact the operator and request its deletion.
Depending on the circumstances, UK data-protection law may provide rights relating to personal information held by the operator, including the right to:
Request access
Request correction
Request deletion
Request restriction of processing
Object to certain processing
Request data portability where applicable
Withdraw consent where processing relies on consent
Complain to a data-protection authority
These rights apply to information actually held by the operator.
The operator cannot access or fulfil a remote request concerning reports stored only on the user’s headset. Those reports can be deleted within the app or by clearing or uninstalling the app.
UK users may submit a complaint to the Information Commissioner’s Office, although users are encouraged to contact the operator first so the concern can be investigated.
Google, Microsoft and other service providers may process information in countries outside the United Kingdom.
Those providers are responsible for applying the safeguards described in their own privacy policies and contractual arrangements.
This Privacy Policy may be updated when:
The app’s features change
Data practices change
Service providers change
Legal or platform requirements change
The latest version will be published on this page with a revised “Last updated” date.
Where appropriate, significant changes may also be communicated through the app or its Meta Horizon Store listing.
