Admission

Admission in any Diploma Institute has two categories:

First Year - Those who have passed 10th Board Examination are eligible to take admission in First Year. In this category the students will have to go through 3-year program.
Lateral Entry - In this category the I.Sc./10+2 (Maths) or ITI passed students are eligible to take admission directly in second year and hence it is only 2-year program for them.

Admission Process is conducted strictly as per the norms of the Government of Jharkhand and is carried out in two separate modes:

Centralized Counselling - The candidates who appear in the written test conducted by J.C.E.C.E.B., Govt. of Jharkhand are called for counseling based on the merit list. In this process, the candidates have to give their preferences of Institutes and Courses. Based on the availability of seats in course/institute and rank, one is allotted seat.
Spot Admission - Those who fail to apply for Entrance Examination or to appear in the Entrance Examination can register with the institute and appear in the counselling conducted in the institute by the State Government. Step 1: Fill up online application form

The interested candidates who have passed the qualifying examination (from any 10th Board) are eligible and may fill up the online form for competitive entrance examination. This entrance examination for Diploma in Engineering is conducted by Jharkhand Combined Entrance Competitive Examination Board (J.C.E.C.E.B.), Sirkha toli, PO - Namkum, Ranchi. Those who have cleared 10th Board Examination from any board, will fill up the examination form and appear in the entrance examination for three-year program. There is another scheme of admission called Lateral Entry Scheme. Separate examinations are conducted for different courses.

After registering yourself, you must login using your 'ID' and 'PASSWORD' to complete the online application form.

Step 2: Appear in the written examination

After filling up the online form, one has to appear in the entrance examination. The information regarding date, time, examination center's address etc. is directly intimated to the candidate by J.C.E.C.E.B.

As far as the level of entrance examination is concerned, questions are mainly from the 10th Std. One can also find sample questions in the internet.

Step 3: Appear in the online counseling process

After the result of written examination is declared, the dates for online counselling are announced for qualifying candidates. The dates of counseling are based on the merit list. The candidates with better ranks appear in the counseling process before the ones with lesser ranks. The candidates can log onto the given website from anywhere (physical presence is not required) and give the names of three institutions and three courses preference wise. The date for "Allotment Letter" printing is announced by J.C.E.C.E.B. after the counseling process is over.

Step 4: Take admission in the allotted college

The Candidates must take the print of the Allotment Letter and read it carefully. Generally, the deadline for admission in the allotted college, is mentioned in the letter itself and one has to take admission within the given time frame. The admission will automatically be cancelled otherwise if the selected candidate fails to report to the college. The selected candidates who don't get the security money back which is deposited with J.C.E.C.E.B. at the time of counselling.

Fee Structure

The fee structure of the all the private, PPP and Government polytechnics is decided and fixed by the Fee Fixation Committee (FFC), Government of Jharkhand for every three years.
