Intelligent Soft Robotics Lab

Dr. Quan Xiong is an Assistant Professor at the Centre for Robotics (IAIBS) and the Department of Robotics (ROB), Faculty of Information Science and Computing (FIC), University of Macau. He serves as Associate Editor of IEEE RA-L.

He was a Postdoctoral Research Associate at the University of Edinburgh, specializing in multimodal robotic perception and E-skin. He obtained his Ph.D. in Biomedical Engineering from the National University of Singapore in 2024, where he focused on developing electrostatic attraction-inspired soft actuators and multimodal robotic systems with adaptive stiffness, multimodal locomotion, and enhanced task performance. Before that, he earned his M.Eng. in Mechanical Engineering from Harbin Institute of Technology in 2020 and his B.Eng. in Mechanical Engineering from Harbin Engineering University in 2018. His research has been published in high-impact journals such as IEEE T-RO, IEEE T-MRB, IEEE T-MECH, Soft Robotics, Adv. Sci., and Adv. Intell. Syst. He has collaborated with research teams from MIT, NUS, Harbin Institute of Technology, and Shanghai Jiao Tong University, advancing innovations in soft robotic actuation and control.
