What I love the most about these shots is the beautiful companion relationship between the person and the dog. The dog Arya's existence in these shots was completely accidental. She just came right on to her owner while we were trying to set up, and she does not accept rejection at any point. You can tell that her owner rarely rejects her as well. They just look at each other and communicate in a language that only they could understand. It is absolutely the most beautiful relationship one could ever have.
I mentioned before that I love using the lens to capture the personalities. I think these shots have done this pretty well by showing the subject's perplexing side and a curious mind. Since mostly it depends on the subject's posture, the hardest part for me has always been how to inspire them to be vulnerable and be exposed under the lens.
Personalities, personalities, and personalities.
Since the subject himself is a lecturer on space related topics, when I was taking these shots I invited him to imagine he's giving a lecture to a huge crow in front of him. I believe a person is the most genuine when he/she is talking about topics that they're most passionate about, not just from professional field, but from their personal lives as well. We covered not just space, but TV shows we both love, and all kinds of hilarious nonsense in the conversation. The result coming out of it is significant.
