Stew dishes are typical back in my home region. It's simply putting multiple kinds of vegetables (e.g., potatoes, beans, corns) and/or meat together, but it is nutritious.
It inspires me that no matter in research or life, one should be simple, open to different fields, and 'nutritious' (helpful) at the same time, just like a pot of stew.
I still remember as a kid, I was having fun on the “World Wide Web”, and fascinated by the promise of a “global village”. Of course, as we all know, the world might have unfortunately taken a different turn.
To me, one of the most rewarding aspects of working in academia is the chance to interact with the brightest and funnest minds around the world, and to work together to push the knowledge boundary of the humankind. We are blessed with the Internet and modern transportation — it would just be too boring not to let them connect us :)
