Lab members

PI: Xiaoxu Yang, PhD

Incoming Assistant Professor, Department of Human Genetics, Utah Center for Genetic Discovery, University of Utah
yangxiaoxu-shishen@hotmail.com
Xiaoxu received his PhD in Bioinformatics from the Center for Bioinformatics, Peking University, where he first started the study for sperm mosaic mutations causing childhood neurological and psychiatric disorders with wet- and dry-lab methodologies he developed. He further extended his research interests in sperm and brain mosaicism during his Postdoctoral training at the Department of Neurosciences, University of California, San Diego. He developed DeepMosaic, the first Deep-learning-based mosaic variant caller without matched control, and MosaicBase, the first non-cancer mosaic variant knowledge base. Using these technologies he developed, he found sperm clonal mosaic mutations causing life-long transmission risk for normal males. He further used mosaic mutations as developmental markers and first described the left-right brain genetic divergence before anterior-posterior in human development.

Muhammad Zubair, PhD

Postdoctoral Researcher
Muhammad received his PhD in Biological Science from the University of Science and Technology of China. His research interest is the mechanisms for male infertility. Details of his research could be found on Google Scholar

Kate Pache
