Opportunities in the Paleo R&D Lab

Graduate Students

I am currently seeking a PhD graduate student to start in Fall 2024. If you are interested in tropical climate dynamics, the interaction between tropical and extratropical regions, proxy data-climate model comparison, or hydroclimate reconstruction based on marine sediments, please feel free to reach out!

For details on applying to the Climate Graduate Program in our department, please visit this page. The application deadline for 2024 Fall admission is December 15, 2023. Prospective graduate students are expected to possess enthusiasm for climate science and a strong background in mathematics or physics. While prior research experience is beneficial, it is not required.

Postdoctoral Researchers

I am actively searching for a Postdoctoral Researcher specializing in paleoclimate modeling and analysis. This NSF-funded postdoctoral project focuses on investigating the influence of different boundary conditions on hydroclimate patterns across the tropics since the Last Glacial Maximum. The research approach integrates isotope-enabled coupled climate model simulations, compilation and synthesis of paleoclimate data, and proxy system models.

For full consideration, please apply through this link by April 1, 2024. The position will remain open until filled. The ideal start date is no later than August 1, 2024.

Furthermore, I am open to exploring additional funding opportunities and potential collaborative projects. If you have a research idea in mind and are interested in collaborating to develop it further, please do not hesitate to reach out!

For inquiries and more information, please feel free to contact me (xdu5@gmu.edu). Please include your CV, research interests, and general background in your email.
