Xiao is one of the Mighty and Illuminated Adepti. He is also known as the Vigilant Yaksha, General Alatus and the Conqueror of Demons. Despite his youthful appearance, he is a warrior of great might that has been defending Liyue for millennia. Although the people of Liyue greatly revere the Adepti, nobody prays to Xiao, because he is a demon-hunting yaksha who protects them from the shadows. Yet Xiao is unfazed and continues to fulfill his duty as per his contract with Rex Lapis.
