My passion for electronics began at a young age, inherited from my father who is an Electrical Engineer. Even though my dad was busy with work and couldn't teach me much about the field, I still found myself drawn to it, experimenting with electronics and even burning the electrical wire in my house at the age of seven. I eventually discovered my love for computers and taught myself how to build and troubleshoot them by the age of 12, and I used that skill to make money by doing Technical support during college.
In my teenage years, I decided to pursue a career in software development, enrolling in a program at FPT Aptech Academy in Vietnam. However, after three years working as a software developer, I found myself feeling bored and unfulfilled. I had little time for a social life, often working long hours and even sleeping at the office on occasion. This led me to quit my software job and pursue photography as a hobby and career instead.
In 2014, I moved to the United States and joined the U.S. Army in 2015. I completed my training with honors and was designated an Allied Trade Specialist, working in welding and machining. For almost five years, I served as a welder, using my skills and training to support my unit's operations. Later, I was promoted and assigned to a new unit where I was responsible for the supervision and management of a workshop. I taught myself to troubleshoot the CNC machine and fix it. I had experience with Plasma Cutting Table, self-taught CNC Plasma, and trained new soldiers to use it.
After separating from the army in January 2023, I have decided to pursue my dream in robotics and automation by earning a Bachelor's degree in Mechatronic Engineering at Clover Park Technical College.
My goal is to design and develop agricultural robots or automation systems that can aid farmers in my hometown of An Giang Province in Vietnam, which is the largest rice-producing region in the country. The pressure to increase productivity often leads to the overuse of chemicals, which can have detrimental effects on the environment and human health. My vision is to create robots that can precisely detect and remove weeds, as well as eliminate small pests without the use of harmful chemicals.
To achieve this, I plan to gain expertise in the field of Mechatronics. In addition, I aspire to work for renowned companies such as Amazon, Boeing, NASA or aerospace companies to gain experience and contribute to the development of robots and automation systems.
