Wulfric Watch - Thomas Archer

Son of a blacksmith and a mystic, Wulfric spent much of his early life romping around the village of Hambury with his half-brother Siegfried. He showed an early aptitude for magic, under his mother's tutelage. However after her untimely demise, Wulfric's father forbade the use of magic in his hall. Much to Wulf's chagrin he devoted the rest of his childhood to learning his father's trade. He always felt drawn to magic though and began practising in secret. In an attempt to escape his father's draconian rules, Wulfric left home and made his way to Anvil where he hoped he would be able to practice his craft more freely.

Upon arriving in Anvil, Wulfric became acquainted with the other six founding members of the Hall. By this time Wulfric had developed his craft, though not perfectly, weaving runes and smithing together as one. Bolstered by powerful enchantments Wulfric took the field for the first time in defence of his people. Over the coming days, Wulfric proved himself to be a shrewd tactician and a capable leader on the battlefield. Leading a rudderless band of Wintermarkers into a proper defensive formation, enabling the rest of the warband to make a safe retreat back through the portal. His battle cry: "Not one Marker left behind!" His actions earned him the admiration of his peers. When Osfrid asked his fellow founding members to help him refound the Watch, the seven unanimously named Wulfric as Thane.

Over the coming months Wulfric followed Osfrid back to Lonelychapel and begun work repairing the keep. During the repairs they uncovered many texts and scriptures, some incomplete others torn and damaged. Wulfric began studying the Watch's history closely, paying particular attention to their tactics and fighting styles as well as the rituals of old. Come autumn equinox, Wulfric was approached by the Iron Bastards warband and asked if he would commit his new found hall to them. Wulfric led the hall and it's newfound fledgling recruits into the fray against the husks. The hall and warband alike were astounded by his new strange fighting style and tactics struggling to keep up. By the end of the equinox Wulfric decided to share his newfound knowledge with the rest of his hall. He gathered all of the new and old members alike together and performed the first Joining in over half a millennia.

Over the winter Wulfric began organising the structure of the hall. Realising that too many had flocked to the cause for him to possibly teach alone. Wulfric named two Shieldbearers and a Housecarl from amongst his most elite troops to drill them. As the first three patrols of the New Wyverns Watch marched out of the keep. Wulfric began to plan for the coming winter solstice.

Aelia Akidottir Raedrigsshalle - Sasha Whitlock

Daughter of a Kallavesi mystic who had a passion for wildlife, and an Urizeni mage devoted to the healing arts, Aelia originates from Kallavesa. She grew in Lustri up until the events of the summer of 381YE forced her out of her home. She never had a chance to interact with anyone aside from her mother, father, and two sisters, and so gets along better with the wildlife than she does with other people and knows little of the world, but shows wholehearted fascination with its many aspects. Aelia shares little about her past, though she has mentioned that each of her necklaces holds a story; with each significant event in her life she adds a new necklace, and if you share a fire with her you may hear the tales behind a few. Though her first trip to Anvil was with Netherwatch Spire, she was found by the Thane, and upon expressing to him an interest to return to Wintermark he invited her to join the Watch, an invitation which she readily accepted.

Now she attends Anvil regularly in hopes of learning more about the world around her and supporting her hall where she can. She now happily works as a sworn Grimnir of the Watch, and a wildlife vet, travelling around Wintermark nursing and studying the natural fauna to better understand them & continuing her family's legacy whilst also assisting her new family. She has the trust of a dire wolf pack, who treat her as one of them, respect her as a leader and let her mother the pups, and whenever she isn't at Anvil it's guaranteed she'll be found with them.

Aelia hopes to one day know enough about the animals of the Mark to teach others, and start up a small shelter caring for the many wild, injured, or orphaned creatures she hopes to save. She'd also like to train up other healers that come to the Hall and take them under her wing, and is usually the first to jump to welcome new healers and offer her help, constantly striving to better herself in order to better assist others. Having been elected Court Physician only strengthens her resolve to help her peers, and she bears the title with pride.

Lorrin the Outrunner - Patrik Ferenc

Son of renowned bard, Elof, and a wise Kallavesi, Adla - songs, stories and proverbs were center-stage in Lorrin's upbringing and their effect upon him is clear. Lorrin is a well-known scop among the halls of the mark and revels in performance. He works and resides in Direkeep, and within the outer walls of the old keep you will find his shop, The Housecarl's Hammer, which provides a profitable marketplace for the armor produced by the artisans of the watch. The upper floor of Lorrin's shop is his sleeping quarter and home, though he uses it infrequently. With a tankard of mead still in hand the tables of the great hall or the battlements of the keep often serve as Lorrin's place of rest.

Lorrin speaks little of his youth, and even less of his parents. What is clear however, simply from sharing a fire with Lorrin, is that he loves sharing his stories and songs with his fellow Watchers. Lorrin is as confident as one can be without being arrogant, and this shows both in and out of combat. Members of the Watch will know Lorrin most for his eagerness in battle - he walks the fine line between bravery and rashness with great tact. It was during a Skirmish into Druj territory in which Lorrin risked his own life to save many others, in turn proving his fearlessness and becoming the Housecarl of Wyvern's Watch. Much of Lorrin's time is spent with his hall and comrades, telling stories to those who listen, and raising the morale of those who feel weary and low.

Following his heroic deeds on the Druj skirmish, he was named Outrunner by legendary captain Boarick Blackhand the day before he passed. After the death of Boarick and his close friend Berren, Lorrin felt moved by their loyalty and strength, and so became dedicated to Loyalty himself. At the spring equinox, Lorrin stepped up to his role as Housecarl and lead skirmishes in Wulfric's name. As the summit came to an end, Vandil, a devout follower and friend of the Krampus, deemed Lorrin virtuous. For this, he burned the word "Outrunner" as testimony upon his soul. Now, when the Labyrinth calls Lorrin's name, his passage through it will be as swift as his name suggests.

The Housecarl's mantra is simple: live for the watch and when the time comes, die for it.

Osfrid - Charlie Brookes

Osfrid is a young priest who lives at Dire Keep in the Northspires. He is confident, charismatic and he holds his own opinions on matters of the empire but is often up to debate them. His congregation consists of members of the Watch and those that live in the surrounding vicinity; he has been serving them for two years now. Osfrid preaches to members of his congregation from Lonelychapel the only continuous institution from the 2nd Watch.

Osfrid was one of the seven founding members of the 3rd Watch. He now serves as a member of the Watch clergy, originally he was the Watch's Chainbreaker, presiding over the spiritual wellbeing of the watch, he has since relinqished the role to Yon.

Those who have known Osfrid for a while also know he is a keen warrior. On his first ever stay at Anvil, he killed a Jotun warrior in a duel with The Shaman Blade on a skirmish, claiming the red cloth of the Jotun for the Watch, which he wears on his hand. Thane Wulfric made him a Shieldbearer for Hahnmark patrol, which he will lead into battle to the best of his ability. Osfrid is no stranger to death and has nearly died on two occasions fighting against Jotun and Husks. Osfrid is known for his tenacity in battle, with fellow shieldbearer Inga describing him as “fighting like a man possessed”.

Osfrid is dedicated to Wisdom and some might even call him wise, though Osfrid would never claim such a thing. He does however possess an urge to research information he receives and ask the opinions of those he trusts when making decisions. Outside the Watch Osfrid serves as a member of the Imperial Synod. He sits on the Wintermark, Wisdom and General assemblies, voting in what he believes to be the Watches interests.

At the Spring Equinox 382 YE, Osfrid along with Skarvald and Gren, were the first in living memory to encounter a mysterious beast that had wandered out of Sydanjaa, the giant ice storm to the north of Sermersuaq. They did so as part of a call to arms from the rangers of Nanuk.

Osfrid is know to have recently taken a strong stance against the drug Bite; he has taken several measures to ensure it does not spread to Wintermark such as addressing the senate and raising judgements in the Synod. For his services to the empire he was awarded the Serpents favour by the Hahnmark senator, Hengest Dun. As of the Autumn Equinox 382 YE, Osfrid gave up is title of chainbreaker to fight the Jotun in Sermersuaq

He can be recognised by his all black attire, huge coat, eye makeup and trusty axe, Preacher. Osfrid cares for the Watch, it’s his family and though he may seem angry at times he cares more than you know.

Yon Moon's Owl - Stuart Lennon

Yon is a Kallavesi refugee living in the Northspires and has spent much of his adult life in the mountains but has recently heard the call of the Empire and resolved to do his duty. From a humble fishing background, Yon's people were forced to flee during the Jotun invasion of West Marsh, Kallavesa in the Winter of 370YE. Being the grandson of an accomplished seer, Yon decided to follow the path of the Stormcrow to best serve his people.

Clever and cunning in and out of combat, Yon loves to tell stories and riddles just as much as hearing them! Yon preaches of pragmatism and good sense more than the ramblings of confusing doctrines that few folk have the inclination to trouble themselves with.

Yon is prepared to stand alongside the fiercest warriors on the battlefield and sit with the wisest mystics in council. Yon believes that following the Way is for building bridges, not putting up walls. Yon has been trained by his Grandmother in the ancient art of rune reading, a ritual he practices ceaselessly, and offers to perform for any willing soul who is in need of spiritual guidance.

No matter how short a time one has spent with Yon, it is clear from the first wise words he speaks that Yon is no simple man, but a true visionary who is prepared to make great sacrifice for his family and friends.

"Where is it written? If you don't like your destiny, then screw your 'destiny' and change it! That is the power of your skein!" - Yon on pre-determinism and fate.

Agg Linrek Alebringer- Adrien Lacoq

From the rolling hills and lustrous vales of Southridge, Agg the tavern keeper is a hospitable, welcoming and garrulous soul. Amicable and affable, Agg is a social Steinr that enjoys fire side conversation as much as a good ale. His path to Anvil, however, was less warm. On returning to homestead he found his tavern in ruin, battered by some foul beast. After rebuilding is beloved alehouse as best he could, Agg set out to Anvil to find a group that would protect the people of the Mark from attacks by beast or barbarian.

Agg seeks to fight alongside the warriors of Wintermark and prove that his honor extends beyond hospitality. He seeks prosperity, the betterment of himself and his peers through trade. This pathway, Agg believes, will lead to greater commerce between the nations of the Empire. Of most import, however, is this Watcher's desire to celebrate and commune with all those willing to toast to the gift of a warm hearth and laughter.

Vilhelm - John Gabriel Lien

"The heart of the Mark beats to the rhythm of hospitality. The success of the Skein lies in acceptance."

The idea of welcoming and accepting with hospitality is crucial to any Marker, however to Vilhelm, this ancient tradition became a new way of life. Having been born in the Sumaah Republic, Vilhelm was not always accustomed to our ways. In the Republic Vilhelm helped his father run a small bakery until he suddenly decided to go to Sermersuaq at the age of 14 no longer a boy, yet not quite a man either. Every good marker knows that only through hardship and trial is ones mettle truly proven. In the years that followed in the bitter-white vastness of Sermersuaq Vilhelm survived more than he lived, and whether it was because of his endless survival instinct, or the weaving of his Skein Vilhelm eventually arrived at Anvil.

Although now a member of the Watch and acting quartermaster Vilhelm often speaks of his native home, sometimes with nostalgia, other times with bitterness, yet he's certain of his desire to travel there for one final time. Until that day however, is it known that Vilhelm's only desires are those which benefit his new family, the Watch.

Grokan - Sebastian Aune

What many in the Watch might not know, is that Grokan is among the original seven, who made the decision to reform the Watch during the summer of 381YE. Grokan is very busy and hardworking individual who is seldom seen around Dire Keep. Due to this, not much is known about him.

What is known however, is that years ago Grokan was the proud owner and commander of a large military unit. Though Grokan speaks little of his past, many believe that what wiped out Grokan's military unit was perhaps a wyvern, or similar flying beast.

Though often away for months at a time, Grokan is a much needed and cherished member of the Watch, and his weapon is deemed as perhaps the most deadly of all Watchers - the infamous spade!

Inga Hjortedyr- Elena Rossi

Of Paulus and Patritia, an Asavean slave emancipated and rescued by Wintermark traders. She once lived with her parents in Nemoria as part of the oppressive hierarchy of the slave trade - liberation only came with escape to Hahnmark. She boarded a ship, which was ruined in a storm, and was rescued and brought to Wintermark. She now works as a blacksmith and armorer for the Wyverns Watch, having helped to refound the hall. Before coming to hunters of the watch she traveled with the Navarri, during this time she learned from the thorns. Inga is a revered fighter of the Mark, a former Shieldbearer for the Watch and noted by many for her poise and guise.

Always she seeks to better her martial abilities. She trains with steadfast discipline and unwavering ardor. Inga also hopes to progress her military career perhaps she looks to join the military council or unofficially lead the masses on the field.

Grenethar the Bloodkeeper - Arthur Jones

Grenethar, Gren for short, was born in his village, his Mother and Father were killed during a raid by the Feni before he could know them. He was raised by his tutor Varen, a wise, travelled healer that has taught Gren everything from herbs to hunting.

During many of the Winters of his childhood Gren was taken to Naris wherein he studied, at a small college, the dedications of brewing, pathology and anatomy. It was here where Gren first heard of the Wyverns Watch from a travelling oculist called Myr. It was told that they were a fearsome group of hunters that slay beasts and protect people.

Recently, Gren received the title of bloodkeeper of his village, leaving the responsibilities of healing and the distribution of medicine to him. He would use his skills to strengthen the ranks of the Watch.

When his duties at Direkeep are completed for the day and when the Watchers have all returned to their quarters. Gren can be found sitting quietly on the ramparts of the old berg with a good book in one hand and a chalice of terrible Dawnish wine in the other.

Drax Raedrigsson Hammer of the Mountain - Skyler Herzog

Drax hasn't been with the watch very long, although his dealings with them go back to its founding. Him and his brother Ulmar took over the business of their father Raedrig after his death in battle five winters past. Drax manned the forge, whilst Ulmar saw to the procurement and supply of raw materials, weapons, armour and all manner of other supplies. Torbjorn, the youngest of the three, travelled south along with his mother to pursue his passions for magic and mystery.

The business flourished, and along with it the older sons of Raedrig. Drax became a master craftsman, effortlessly shaping steel into formidable pieces of elegant design, and his spirit tempered and honed to a razors edge. Ulmar learned much of the dealings of the Winterfolk, and the harsh land they called home; he became an expert woodsman and prospector. The Wyverns Watch recently became clients of Raedrigssons, using them to aid in the repair of their ancestral home Dire keep.

This relationship was not to last.

Had fate not been on their side, and Ulmar not been out in the wilds one fateful day, all may have been lost. It appears a small number of Jotun scouts had ventured from their foray into Summersuaq, reaving across the ice towards the peaks of the mountains; seeking what, he knew not.

As fast as he could, Ulmar sped through the frigid paths of the Northspire foothills to warn his friends and family, who were granted just enough time to escape before Jotun boots could be heard crunching through the snows.

His uncle Ragner lead the families up into the mountains, to the mining village that supplied the forges, whilst Ulmar and Drax endeavoured to load up the cart delivering their last order, one destined to the Wyverns Watch.

Speed was not on their side, and they were assailed by the Jotun. Drax took to the defence of the cart, swinging his mighty hammer with such force that the Jotun were driven deep into the frozen ground. Pulling a dusty greatsword from its purchase, Ulmar felt a surge of anger as the rune of Verys etched into the blade gleamed in the shining winter sun. With a roar, he jumped from the cart and brought down his blade in a mighty overhead arc, slicing the nearest warrior in twain. Drax cheered, and as if in celebration, launched one of the remaining Jotun from the icy hill with a single swing, his scream fading as his broken body tumbled. His spirits raised, Ulmar lowered his guard for a second to catch his breath; a grave mistake. A barbed arrow struck deep into the bone of Ulmar’s knee, shattering it completely. Enraged, his brother launched a hammer at the archer, the spiked face landing with a resounding crunch. As the last orc died, the din of fighting faded to frenzied screams of pain.

Ulmar and Drax were initiated into the Watch in the Winter Solstice of 381YE, after fighting alongside the watch on their first trip to Anvil. Drax proved himself a mighty warrior time and time again, felling orc and husk alike with his hammer.

Drax went travelling after his first encounter with the Watch, seeking out the mines and trying to cobble his old life back together; but after hearing his brother had militarised the miners due to increasing Jotun advances, he knew this was not to be. Instead he returned to the folds of the Watch, pledging steel, blood and honour to fight alongside his newfound family so he can one day return home and life the life he wanted.

Garstan Winter's Grasp- Charles Lewis

Garstan was a rich and unvirtuous bodyguard and mercenary for hire until the day he heard of the Watch and their mission. He decided to give away his home and all of his possessions save his armour and spear, travelling to Anvil in the hopes of becoming somebody worth being. Since then he has become a sworn brother of the Watch, been given the name Winter's Grasp, found his loyalty and has dedicated his life to protecting both his fellow Watchers and the people of the mark.

Æthelred Watch- Carl Bednall

Hailing from Sealtoq, Sermersuaq, Æthelred grew up amongst the Suaq of the region. Æthelred's family moved all about the region scrabbling for what they could to survive. Æthelred knew both abject poverty and hunger. He could never seem to master the bow, but had his axe by his side for gathering wood and hunting. When he came of age, he joined the ranks of the Steinr, taking up arms with some of his childhood friends and forming the Reide adr Daudr; "service unto death". Using the only material available to them - the burlap sacks they carried their scant supplies in and some wood from a nearby tree - they made "the banner of dirt" and went off to war. The fight was against the Jotun and the banner faired well for their first outing. Though they didn't see very much action, they still managed to get enough spoils to raise them out of poverty; while this got them accused of maggotry, they have long since put that reputation behind them.

Æthelred moved to Kronemark in Hahnmark and purchased a small plot of land to farm, where he grew turnips, but whenever the banner was raised he joined his banner brothers and sisters. It was while on such a campaign he met the woman who would become his wife; a beautiful Steinr woman red of hair and green of eye, wielding a sword. Though short in stature she was fierce in battle and Æthelred quickly fell in love with this woman; Cynewyn . After the campaign was over they got married and carried on as before devoting their time between each other, campaigning, farming and raising their son, until recently.

The recent attacks on Sermersuaq by the Jotun pulled at Æthelred and many of his fellow bannermen, who originally hailed from the Suaq tradition and wanted to go to the defence of their homeland. Cynewyn, however, wanted to go with the Greenshields against the Grendel in Screed. This would end in tragedy for both of them. Æthelred and Reid adr Daudr were acting as a flying reserve and were ordered to turn a Jotun flanking maneuver, thought to be a small flanking skirmish force, but it turned out to be much more. The banner received heavy losses, but they held the flank until the main line routed their foe and came to break the flanking force. Many of Reid adr Daudrs founding members had been captured, killed or horribly injured. And yet their banner still flew, though horribly rent and torn. Æthelred himself, having removed his helmet to widen his field of vision, received a glancing blow to the head from a Jotun long hammer. He was saved by a grimnir who pulled his unconscious body off of the field. Æthelred was patched up and his life saved but he has lost much of his memory of anything from before the battle other than what his surviving members have filled in. Cynewyn has gone missing in campaign against the Grendel, it's not clear at this stage if she is alive or not, though a man told Æthelred that she was dead as he was leaving Anvil. Æthelred refused to accept it and knocked him out.

During his first summit in anvil Æthelred met the members of Wyvern's Watch and joined them knowing his banner would never fight again, Æthelred serves the Watch with the loyalty he'd shown to his own banner and is training to be a battlefield grimnir. In heavy armour and shield, he is one of the slower members of the Watch, but when standing guard over the healers they are secure in the knowledge that a capable and determined warrior guards them.

Erkenbrand Dogbrand- Joe Lewis

Erkenbrand, a Steinr, is the remains of an old mercenary company "The Lucky 13". Due to the his time spent with the 13, he believes that the day of his death is prewritten, and that until that day he cannot die. This belief is made rather obvious on the field as he can be seen taking on several husks by himself, or going after heralds who won't shut up.

Erkenbrand (top) and Gren (bottom).

Erik - Eric Kremers

Erik hails from a gathering of huts too small to be called a village and far too small to have a name in Hahnmark. Wintermark is a large place crawling with all kinds of dire beasts and not all citizens can always rely on imperial protection, so as an able-bodied young man with people and a place to protect, Erik practically grew up into his axe out of necessity. And thus from the day he could hold a weapon he's trained to kill dire beasts, which in turn of course means that Erik's skill fighting humanoids was fairly limited. His family didn't have much, but they got through winter every year since father ran a small general goods store and so, fortunately, Erik never hungered and he could dedicate his time to hone his violent skill set. Being raised a warrior and monster slayer, not a businessman, Erik never quite felt content with the family business left to him after his father retired, no matter how much it blossomed with a road leading directly to Anvil having opened through their now prospering village and coin flowing in excess. On his path to attend his own first summit, Erik heard of a group of monster slayers named the Wyvern's Watch. Eager to find out more, Erik set out to Anvil autumn of year 382 and swiftly proved himself being sworn in by his then Shieldbearer Loghar on the same summit still. Erik hadn't realised how serious the Jotun invasion in Sermersuaq actually was and upon finding out, he immediately abandoned the family business and went recruiting, catching up with the rest of the Watch to support the Drakes against the Jotun. His inexperience struck however and Erik found himself hindered on his way back home and thus, once he finally made it, immediately set out to help in Sermersuaq during winter. He hasn't been heard of since...

Wylf Pendragon - Tristram Griffiths

The Pendragon’s are considered by many as a prince among men coming from a long line of wealthy traders. Whom will sell anything including barbarian wares to supplement their artisans with all the resources that they need to create some of the finest items to be found anywhere within the Empire be it some small trinket to some of the heaviest armour. Wylf sees himself as someone who can help the people of empire to band together to help the nation be more prosperous. He aims to do this by supporting many worthy causes and families as be it a great hall or just giving a helping hand to those that need it. Wylf upon hearing about the death of his brother Hywl in the Autumn Equinox 382YE, Wylf decided he’d start by supporting the same hall that his brother gave his life for. This is who Wylf became the quarter master for the Wyverns watch, as his brother had done such good job at showing the Wyverns that there’s more than just beast to hunt, thrones need slaying too. Wylf hopes to help Wyverns Watch to become a more prosperous hall and to hopefully get them to be a force for good in the Empire.
