Taking the approach of deciding for the team how they are going to work and what cadence they are going to work to is not the most collaborative way to go about things. Although there are many frameworks, with scrum being one of them that gives a solid structure to follow, it's not a bad idea to work with the team to work out what might work best for them. You may find when talking to the team that they have tried certain approaches & frameworks before that have not worked or that there are certain things in place that may hinder the progress of certain frameworks. This is why as a Scrum Master it is a great thing to be able to pull from the knowledge of a number of techniques, approaches, and frameworks so you have more of a tool kit type approach rather than be limited to being an expert in one approach only.
Regardless of which approach, framework, hybrid, or set of principles you decide to go with, if you all agree as a group and understand why then people are a lot more likely to get on board early with the choice.
