This textbook approach could easily happen if you only read the textbook without understanding the essence of the values and pillars of Scrum, ending up alienating the team as they could be seen as a bit of a Scrum zealot. Scrum is built on the pillars of transparency, inspection, and adaption but its values really guide it. These values of focus, courage, openness, commitment, and respect. Telling a team what to do does not really show these values. The role of a Scrum Master is one of a servant leader that helps the team to develop and realize their potential to be a high-performing team. Whilst having knowledge is great and it will really help, displaying the right attitude and showing how the values drive decisions and behaviours will probably help you further in the long run.
