Great, great, great Grandmother: Caroline Carter, born 1846 and lived on a plantation in Hanover County.

Great, great, Grandmother: Mary Ellen Carter, born December 24, 1866, children: Mattie Carter, Netty E. Carter, Carrie Carter, and Sam (Samuel) Carter. Her occupation was a house keeper. She lived and worked on a plantation on Calno Road in Hanover county. She later moved and resided at her home on Rt. 604. She died August 18, 1948 and was buried at Mangohick Baptist Church cemetery.

Great Grandmother: Mattie Carter Tompkins, born June 5, 1901, children: Willie A. Carter and Mary Carter Pollard. She married Samuel Tompkins. Her occupation was a house wife and house keeper. She was also an entrepreneur by having her own laundry service. She lived on Rt. 604 in King William county-Mangohick district. She served on various organizations with a love for Missionary. She died June 10, 1989 and was buried at Mangohick Baptist Church cemetery.

Grandfather: Willie A. Carter, born November 15, 1915. He married Rosetta Taylor Carter. Their children: Bernice I. Carter Anderson, Willie T. Carter, Joseph J. Carter and Mildred L. Carter Wilkerson. Willie completed a draft card at the age of 19. His occupation was a laborer and truck driver. He owned his home and lived on Rt. 609 in King William county-Mangohick district. He was known as a very hard worker and took care of his family. He was a dedicated usher at Mangohick Baptist church and a faithful member of the Order of King David. Rosetta Carter was a housewife. Rosetta died at age 27. She was the daughter of James and Louise Robinson Taylor. James and Louise children are: Leolia Carter, William, Mildred, Mary, Hazel, Joseph, Maria Shaw, Thomas, Rosetta. and Lucille Spurlock. Willie later married Lillian Anderson and their son is Derrick Carter. Willie also had a step son Melvin Anderson, and step daughters, Geneva Spurlock, Louise Johnson- Simmons, Willie died March 20, 1972 and was buried at Mangohick Baptist Church cemetery.

Mother: Bernice I. Carter Anderson, born January 29, 1937. She married James R. Anderson Sr., April 5, 1955. Their children: James Jr., Joyce A. Heiskell, Kenneth L., Gregory B., Gloria W., Michael B., Janet R. Bundy, Melinda A. Williams, Larry D., and Vickie A. Brown. She was a house wife and laborer. She lived with her family on Rt. 604 but later moved to her new home on Rt. 609. Bernice prayed fervently, worked hard and believed God for her new home. She loved to cook and she shared her food with all who visited her home. She loved singing and was a member of several organizations at Mangohick Baptist Church. She died June 9, 2004 and was buried at Mangohick Church cemetery.
