White Walk
A moderate 1.75km hike down to the Beatrice River ... 3.5km return. Wear walking shoes that can cope with heavy mud in the wet season. Otherwise, it's firm and uneven in the dry-season.
Yellow Walks
Moderate to hard walks with uneven ground and significant gradients. Wear robust walking shoes and be prepared for great views and the odd creek crossing.
Blue Walk
A short 300m deviation down to the platypus pools. There are two tracks in and out. The "high" eastern entrance is useable all year round. The "lower" western track gets muddy in the wet season.
Platypodes/platypuses are timid creatures that shy away from noise. Stand still and remain silent to increase your chances of seeing them.
ETD / ETR ?
Don't forget your hat, sunscreen, water bottle and phone. Please let Delwyn, Lyndon or Graham know when you depart and what time you expect to return.
A brisk walk up the main drive from the barn to the letter box is 300metres. Five return trips = 3kms.
We can also direct you to the concrete drive for sprints and some trucks tyres for squats.
Please note there are lots of inherent dangers walking on an operating cattle farm.
Risks including uneven and boggy ground, bulls, dehydration, rocks, snakes, ticks, sticks, sun burn and vehicles.
If you stumble upon a snake, stand still and let it slither away.
If you are confronted by a bull, walk slowly away from his herd.
If you spot a dingo, don't panic, they are usually quite timid and will run away.
PLEASE CLOSE ALL GATES that you open.
Please report your ETD and ETA to the office.
AND if you are attacked by an Australian Drop-bear, please try and get a photo, we've never seen one.
