Back On Azimuth, LLC grew from a combination of an opportunity to teach, military experience, and a love for the outdoors. Ben started teaching outdoor survival skills at the school his kids attended. It grew to encompass students from other schools forcing it to go virtual. Despite this all students learned the basics of backwoods survival (orienteering, food prep, shelter building and fire starting and safety). The curriculum is based off Ben's military experiences (training and deployments) and living overseas. After seeing the initial reception Ben decided to venture out and create a more formal offering for kids, and parents, throughout the year.
Ben Pankow (Founder) is a "Third Culture Kid", loving husband and father, and US Army Veteran. Ben grew up overseas in Cameroon, Africa from 3 years old to 18. In 2011 he tried out for Special Forces training and was selected to become a Special Forces Officer (Green Beret). The family moved to N. After earning his Green Beret, Ben led a Special Forces Detachment working in two different African Countries and supporting missions in Afghanistan and Europe as a member 10th Special Forces Group in Colorado.
