The Sgt. David Solinas Jr. Memorial Fund is a registered 501(c)(3) non-profit organization.

Currently there are four annual scholarships:

• The Sgt David Solinas Memorial Award, which gives three $1,000 awards to three River Dell seniors who share David's dedication to service to others.

2023 award winners:  Adam Lichtenstein, Aiden Kim, Sean Kim

2024 award winners:  Kiera Caslin, Abigail Finan, Gavin James Lehmann

• The Sgt David Solinas Braveheart Memorial Award, which is a $500 award given to a senior wrestler who's shown the same drive and tenacity on the wrestling mat which David had during his wrestling career.  The recipient will be chosen by the River Dell wrestling coaches.  The first award was given out on March 12, 2024, to Jack Courain.

The Sgt. David Solinas Jr. Memorial Award Information

David (RD Class of 2017) was dedicated to a life of service -- to his family, friends, classmates, teammates, fellow soldiers, and his communities.  The only requirement for this award is a strong desire to serve others.

The scholarship is open to any graduating River Dell student.  To apply for this scholarship, please write an essay (of any length) explaining how service has been a part of your life, and how your service has impacted others.  Feel free to tell us how you intend to continue service to others in the future.  ALL APPLICATIONS MUST BE RECEIVED BY MARCH 13TH, 2025.  Three $1,000 awards will be given.

There are two ways to submit your essay:

1. Email your essay to sgtsolinasmemorialfund@gmail.com with the subject "Scholarship Application".  Please include your full name in the email.  (NOTE -- please be sure to attach or cut-and-paste the essay.  We can't open links to OneDrive documents.)
