The Kensington Holiday Lamppost Project is an annual tradition in which Kensington volunteers place a wreath at the top of all 200+ lampposts, and wrap each lamppost in red ribbon.
Thank you to everyone that donated to the Kensington Holiday Lamppost Project and a big heartfelt thank you to the Kensington Elf Volunteers.
To start, the team distributes over 1,200 flyers, one to every home in Kensington, requesting donations.
In late November, twenty volunteer elf teams, with over fifty volunteers in total, head out to decorate the Kensington Lampposts. Each elf team decorates approximately ten lampposts.
Over the next five weeks, we keep a close eye on maintaining every one of the decorated lampposts. It is a big job; you will often see Kensington Elves repairing downed decorations to make sure Kensington Holidays are as merry as can be.
In early January, the elf teams remove the decorations from the lampposts. Our work continues as we remove the faded ribbons and prepare the wreaths and supplies for storage.
This annual fundraiser collects donations that help pay for the Kensington Memorial Day Parade, Kensington Litter Pickers, and Festival of Lights awards.
