Please call and leave a message, and I will get back to you as soon as possible.
Are all services confidential?
All information at BT Psychology Services, including communications and records relating to psychological therapy and assessments, are confidential and may not be disclosed without your written consent. However, there are some exceptions to confidentiality:
If you present an imminent danger to harm yourself, I am required to contact the authorities or contact family members or seek hospitalization for you.
If you communicate an immediate threat of severe physical harm to an identifiable victim, I may be required to take protective actions. These actions may include notifying the potential victim to avert foreseeable dangers, contacting the police, or seeking hospitalization for you.
If a child is at risk of being harmed or abused in any way (e.g., sexual or physical abuse, negligence), I must contact Child and Family Services and report all relevant information.
If a court subpoenas your file's contents, I must release your records.
What if I need to cancel an appointment?
Clients are NOT billed for missed appointments. If you have to miss an appointment, please call as early as possible so other clients can be served.
Questions to ask your insurance provider:
Is the cost of an individual therapy session or psychological testing (attention deficit hyperactivity disorder-ADHD, autism spectrum disorder-ASD) covered?
Is there a deductible?
What portion will be reimbursed?
Is a referral needed from a primary care physician or psychiatrist?
Is pre-authorization required?
What is the difference between a clinical psychologist and a psychiatrist?
A clinical psychologist has postgraduate training (i.e., Doctoral degree) in the assessment, and treatment of a range of emotional, behavioral, cognitive, and interpersonal problems. Although they may have training in the use of medication, clinical psychologists do not prescribe medication. A psychiatrist is a medical doctor who has completed a residency in psychiatry. Psychiatrists are trained in the medical management of psychiatric disorders, and do prescribe medications.
How much does each session cost?
Individual Therapy (50 minutes): $225 (If the session extends beyond 60 minutes, billing will occur in 15-minute increments at $50 per 15 minutes).
Psychodiagnostic Assessments: The assessment report will not be released before final payment.
ADHD: Child $1200, Adult $1300
ASD: Child (age 3-18) $1300
Single Session Consultation (60 minutes): $225
Psychological services are not covered by Alberta Health Services (AHS). However, clients may be reimbursed for a portion of the cost of psychological services through their extended health insurance benefits or Employee Assistance Program (EAP). Clients are encouraged to find out how their coverage works before attending their initial appointment.
Note that psychological services may be tax deductible if claimed under health care expenses on your income tax return.
