Effective Date: April 2, 2025
Zion Studios ("we", "us", or "our") operates the GuardMe device security application (the "App"). This Privacy Policy outlines how we collect, use, and disclose information when you use our App. By accessing or using the App, you agree to the terms of this Privacy Policy.
1. Information We Collect - We collect information to provide and improve the functionality of the App, specifically to help you monitor potential unauthorized access to your device. We strive to minimize the data we collect while enabling the core features of the App.
Log Data (Photos/Videos): If you enable the relevant features, the App captures photos or videos using the device's camera when certain events occur (e.g., screen activation while guarding is active). This media is stored locally on your device as part of the access log.
Location Data: If you enable the location feature, the App collects your device's approximate location (latitude and longitude) at the time an access log event occurs. This location data is stored locally on your device and associated with the corresponding log entry.
Log Timestamps: The App records the date and time when log events occur.
Vault Content: If you use the Vault feature, the App stores the photos, videos, or other files you choose to add locally on your device.
Subscription Information: To manage premium features, we utilize a third-party service (RevenueCat). This service provides us with anonymized information about your subscription status (e.g., whether you are a premium member) and purchase history. We do not directly collect or store your payment card or billing information.
Feedback and Support: If you contact us for support or provide feedback, we may collect your contact details and any other information you choose to provide related to your inquiry.
Usage Information: We may collect aggregated, anonymized information about how you interact with the App's features to help us identify bugs and improve the App. This does not include the content of your logs or vault.
Device Information: We may collect non-identifying information about your device, such as its type and operating system version, primarily for troubleshooting and improving compatibility.
2. How We Use Your Information - We are dedicated to upholding the security and confidentiality of your data. Here's how we utilize the information we gather:
Providing Core Functionality: Log data (photos/videos, location, timestamps) and Vault Content are collected and stored locally on your device solely for the purpose of allowing you to review potential unauthorized access attempts and manage your secure vault.
Managing Premium Access: We use the subscription status information provided by RevenueCat to grant or restrict access to premium features within the App.
Improving App Functionality: We analyze anonymized usage patterns and feedback to identify areas for improvement, fix bugs, and optimize the App's performance and security.
Ensuring Security: We employ security measures within the App to protect the locally stored data. We may use anonymized usage data to monitor for potential security vulnerabilities within the App itself.
Communicating with You: We may use your contact information if you reach out to us for support or feedback.
Complying with Legal Obligations: We may use or disclose information if required by applicable laws, regulations, or legal processes.
We respect your privacy. The sensitive content generated by the App (log photos/videos, location data, vault content) is intended for your eyes only and is stored locally on your device unless you explicitly choose to use a feature like cloud backup (if offered in the future).
3. How We Share Your Information - Protecting your privacy is a priority. We limit data sharing as follows:
Local Storage: Your core Log Data and Vault Content are stored locally on your device and are not automatically shared by us with any third parties.
RevenueCat (Subscription Management): To process purchases and manage subscription status, certain anonymized identifiers and purchase event data are shared with RevenueCat. We do not share your log data, vault content, or precise location with RevenueCat. You can review RevenueCat's privacy policy for details on how they handle data. [Optional: Insert link to RevenueCat's Privacy Policy here]
Future Cloud Backup (If Applicable): If we offer a cloud backup feature in the future, you will be able to optionally enable it. If enabled, your encrypted log/vault data would be transferred and stored with a third-party cloud provider. We will provide details and require explicit consent before any such data transfer occurs.
Legal Requirements: We may disclose information if required to do so by law or in response to valid requests by public authorities (e.g., a court or government agency).
Anonymized Analytics: We may share aggregated, anonymized usage statistics (which do not identify you or contain your sensitive data) with analytics providers to help us understand app usage and improve the service.
We do not sell your personal information or share your sensitive Log Data or Vault Content for marketing or advertising purposes.
4. Data Security - We take data security seriously. Your sensitive Log Data and Vault Content are stored locally on your device within the App's secure storage area, protected by the operating system's security features. We implement reasonable technical and organizational measures to protect the information handled by the App. However, please remember that no method of electronic storage or transmission over the internet is 100% secure. While we strive to use commercially acceptable means to protect your information, we cannot guarantee its absolute security. You are also responsible for maintaining the security of your device and any passcode or biometric locks used to protect it.
5. Your Choices - You have control over the information collected and used by the App:
Feature Control: You can choose to enable or disable features like location tracking or video recording within the App's settings, which will limit the data collected for logs.
Permissions: You can manage the App's access to your camera and location at any time through your device's system settings. Disabling these permissions will prevent the corresponding log data from being collected.
Data Deletion: You can delete individual log entries or use the "Delete Vault Data" option within the App's settings to remove locally stored data. Deleting the App will also remove its locally stored data.
Subscription Management: You can manage your auto-renewable subscription through your Apple App Store account settings.
6. Changes to this Privacy Policy - We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time as the App evolves or as required by law. We encourage you to periodically review this Privacy Policy to stay informed about our data practices. Your continued use of the App after any changes become effective constitutes your acceptance of the revised Privacy Policy. We will update the "Effective Date" at the top of this policy when changes are made.
