La Choza often goes as one of the most under appreciated restaurants in fortuna because of it's neighbor, Red Rooster. Many of us find La Choza for the first time because the wait at Red Rooster is too long, but we quickly come to understand that La Choza is at least on par with Red Rooster, if not superior. This traditional Costa Rican BBQ house has a bit of a touristy vibe, but after all, we are tourist! They excel in hitting the mark on the things we expect from a restaurant in Costa Rica: perfectly cooked rice, fresh fruit, fire roasted meats, and freshly made cocktails. This is a great spot to drop in for a sock coffee as well! Now before you get grossed out, just know it's not an actual sock, but a traditional method of brewing coffee that highlights the flavor of the fresh and local coffee bean found in Costa Rica! As an added bonus, Choza sells cigars for those looking for an after meal buzz, as well as stocking local art for sale!
