Responsibilities

The Sheriff is the highest-ranking deputy in the Sheriff's Office. It is the job of the Sheriff to plan, organize and direct the activities of the Sheriff's Office. Under general direction provided by the ES Directors, the Sheriff exercises the direct and indirect supervision over sworn staff.  301 Isaiah C. is the Sheriff for the King County Sheriff's Office.

Job Functions

The essential job functions of the Sheriff include but are not limited to:

• Plans, organizes and directs the activities of Sheriff's Office in the maintenance of law and order within city limits

• In consultation with the ES Directors, assures that the department has adequate resources to fulfil its mission through proper budget planning and execution, personnel selection, and training and development

• Ensures compliance with legislative, regulatory and judicial mandates, regulations and professional standards

• Prepares and presents reports to Directors; provides technical and professional advice and recommendations related to levels of service and other related matters; coordinates special studies on a variety of complex problems which require a high degree of technical competence and political awareness

• Assures that positive public relations and effective working relationships are maintained by the Department with the general public, other governmental agencies, the ES Directors, Civ departments, and the media

What does the Office of the Sheriff consist of?

The Sheriff's Office is concluded of 3 members appointed by ES Directors, The second in command after the Sheriff would be the Undersheriff also known as "302". The Undersheriff is responsible for collecting information from the Chief Deputy and informing the Sheriff. He is also responsible for passing Information down from the Sheriff.

In the office you will also see Chief Deputy known as 303. The Chief Deputies role is to collect reports from the deputies below him and inform the Undersheriff of all the reports. The Chief Deputy is also responsible for the day-to-day operations.
