I work at the University of Washington, in the role of Assistant Teaching Professor and Clinical Lecturer with the Speech and Hearing Sciences department. My specialty area is working with people of all ages who stutter and their families. In addition to teaching, collaborating with, and mentoring my graduate students in groups ranging from 5 to 54 for 13 years, I've been a Mentor with our UW CHARM program--which is a mentorship program for students of diverse backgrounds or marginalized identities--for the past 3 years. I've truly enjoyed that experience, finding it leads to authentic connection and opportunities for support while working 1:1 with students in a context outside of their graduate practicum experiences and didactic courses. I'm also a Faculty Advisor for the NSSLHA department organization (for my 4th consecutive year), and I've found that to be similarly a wonderful way to support the Undergraduates in community-building and advocacy activities within our field.
