Policies

We are grateful to the Warrigal Road State School for providing this chance to work together with parents and our children.

It would be highly appreciated if each and every child could follow WRSS’s Student Code of Conduct even after school.

 Behavioural Values

We are following our school's behavioural Values

Safety Rules

At our academy, the safety and wellbeing of the children is always our top priority.

For our chess program in the school, we would like to introduce the following procedures

For chess students:

✨Our coach will perform a roll call before the lesson.

✨Students are encouraged to sneeze or cough into their elbow or a tissue and put the tissue in the bin.

Any students who attend and feel unwell / display any symptoms, will need to be collected by their parents/guardians and directed to seek medical advice.

Any student who is unwell must not attend school/class and unwell students should remain at home until well.

If any student feels unwell and canNOT attend our class, we kindly request that the parent inform us (click the link) before 3:10 pm on the day.

Do not allow child/children to go or wait anywhere else but the classroom or pickup area (Outside our classroom located in modular H).

If your child/children will attend YMCA after their chess lesson, then you should complete this form now (click the link) and we also will double check with each and every student in the class so that we can organize and escort them in one group to the YMCA after the lesson.

For parents/guardians of chess students:

Parents and guardians will NOT be permitted into our classroom at any time.

Parents/guardians are expected to reach the pickup area 5-10 minutes before our class ends.

Pickup time is 4.15-4.30 pm

If a parent/guardian does NOT show up by 4.30 pm. Our coach will make a phone call to him/her.

We also understand that some students usually walk home by themselves. In this case, could you please complete this form now (click the link) in advance, so that we could let your child/children go after our lesson.

Terms and Conditions

Once students are enrolled in our after-school chess program, it means that they will be available to attend all lessons during the term and we do not expect them to miss any lesson without reason, however we fully understand that there might be some school events or unpredictable situations such as illness.

Qualification for a make-up lesson

A minimum of 7 days’ notice is required to re-schedule a lesson missed due to a school activity such as camp, sports day, excursion, music performance. Please avoid scheduling non-urgent medical appointments in your child/children’s lesson time.

In case of illness, please notify us (click the link) prior to the lesson on the day

Lessons missed through non-attendance or insufficient notice will be charged.

Make-up lesson

Will be arranged in another group during the term and will be negotiated taking into account the availability of the student.

Credit policy

If an absent student does NOT have a chance to make up a lesson, this missed lesson may be credited for the next term.

Maximum Credit

It is not “advisable” for any student to miss more than two lessons in any one term as they will fall behind as the group progresses.

So, maximum credit for two missed lessons can be given in one term except the case that prior planning is with us before the new term starts.
