Saving your GeoGebra applets allows you to return to your work, make revisions, and use the construction in future Activities. GeoGebra also provides folders and subfolders to help you organize the Activities and Books connected to your account.
In this section, you will learn how to save an applet, locate it after saving, reopen and edit it, create folders, and organize your GeoGebra Resources.

Before saving your work online, make sure you are signed in.
Open the GeoGebra website.
Select Sign In.
Enter your GeoGebra account information or use one of the available sign-in options.
Confirm that your profile icon or username appears.
A GeoGebra account allows you to create online Resources, upload files, organize Resources, assign materials, and share or publish your work.
Important: You may be able to use a GeoGebra calculator without signing in, but signing in is necessary to save the applet to your online GeoGebra account.
Open the GeoGebra Graphing Calculator or Calculator Suite.
Create a simple construction that you can practice saving.
Enter:
a = 1
Then enter:
f(x) = a * x^2
Create or display a slider for aaa.
Move the slider and confirm that the graph changes. Your applet should now contain:
A variable named aaa
A slider controlling aaa
A function named fff
A graph that changes when the slider moves
After creating the applet:
Open the main menu in the GeoGebra calculator.
Select Save.
Sign in if GeoGebra asks you to do so.
Enter a title for the applet.
Select Save or confirm the save operation.
The exact location of the Save option may differ slightly depending on whether you are using the web version, Calculator Suite, Graphing Calculator, or an installed app. GeoGebra’s math apps support saving and sharing completed work.
For this practice applet, use the title:
Quadratic Slider Practice
After saving, the construction will be connected to your GeoGebra account and can be accessed through your Resources.
A descriptive title makes it easier to identify the applet later.
Avoid titles such as:
Untitled
Practice
GeoGebra 1
Use titles that identify the mathematical topic and purpose.
Better examples include:
Quadratic Transformations with Sliders
Exploring Triangle Circumcenters
Derivative and Original Function Comparison
Normal Distribution Probability Explorer
A useful title should help you answer three questions:
What mathematical topic does the applet address?
What will students do with the applet?
Which course or unit does it support?
After saving your applet:
Return to the GeoGebra website.
Open your profile page.
Review the Resources connected to your account.
You can also:
Open the Resources page.
Select MINE.
Look for the title of the applet you just saved.
Resources connected to your account can be accessed from your profile or from the MINE area. They can also be sorted by title, creation date, or last modified date.
If you do not immediately see the applet:
Refresh the page.
Sort by Last modified.
Search for part of the applet’s title.
Confirm that you saved it while signed in to the correct account.
To reopen your applet:
Open your profile or the MINE section.
Locate Quadratic Slider Practice.
Select the Resource.
Interact with the applet to make sure it opens correctly.
Move the slider and verify that the graph still updates.
Opening the saved Resource allows you to view the applet in the same way that another user or student may see it.
To make changes to your saved applet:
Open the saved Resource.
Open its three-dot menu or editing menu.
Select the available option to Edit or open the construction in a GeoGebra app.
Change part of the construction.
For example, change:
f(x) = a * x^2
to:
f(x) = a * (x - 2)^2 + 1
Test the slider again.
Save your changes.
When you save changes to the existing Resource, GeoGebra updates the saved version. The Resource’s Last modified date should also update.
Important: Confirm that you are editing your own Resource. Editing a copy is different from editing another author’s original public Resource.
Before saving a major change, decide whether you want to:
Update the existing applet
Create a separate version
Update the existing applet when:
You are correcting an error.
You are improving the formatting.
You are making a small instructional change.
You no longer need the previous version.
Create a separate version when:
The applet will be used for a different course.
The student directions will be substantially different.
You want both versions to remain available.
The new version addresses a different learning objective.
Use clear version names such as:
Quadratic Slider Practice – Algebra 1
Quadratic Slider Practice – Algebra 2
Quadratic Slider Practice – Teacher Demonstration
GeoGebra folders are used to organize the Activities and Books connected to your account. Folders may also contain subfolders.
A folder is different from a GeoGebra Book:
A folder organizes your own Resources.
A Book organizes Activities into a learner-facing instructional sequence.
GeoGebra’s folder system is designed to help users structure their own Activities and Books.
To begin organizing your Resources:
Sign in to GeoGebra.
Select your profile icon or username.
Open your profile page.
Locate your saved Resources.
Find the CREATE button.
Your profile page is the main location for creating folders and managing the Resources connected to your account.
To create a folder:
Select CREATE.
Select Folder from the menu.
Enter a folder name.
Select Create.
GeoGebra’s official folder workflow uses the profile page’s CREATE button followed by the Folder option.
For this tutorial, create a folder named:
GeoGebra Course Practice
The new folder should appear with your other Resources.
Locate the Quadratic Slider Practice Resource.
To move it into the folder:
Open the Resource’s three-dot menu.
Select Move to.
Select the GeoGebra Course Practice folder.
Select Move.
You may also be able to drag the Resource directly into the folder. GeoGebra supports both the Move to command and drag-and-drop organization.
Open the folder and confirm that the Resource is inside it.
Subfolders can help organize Resources into smaller categories.
To create a subfolder:
Open the GeoGebra Course Practice folder.
Select CREATE.
Select Folder.
Enter the name:
Graphing Applets
Select Create.
GeoGebra allows users to create subfolders by opening an existing folder and using the CREATE button from inside it.
Move Quadratic Slider Practice into the Graphing Applets subfolder.
Your folder structure should now look like this:

When you open a folder or subfolder, GeoGebra displays a navigation path near the top of the page.
The path may look similar to:
Resources > GeoGebra Course Practice > Graphing Applets
Use the navigation path to:
Identify which folder you are currently viewing
Return to the parent folder
Return to your main Resources
Move between levels of your folder structure
GeoGebra’s folder navigation path shows the current folder location and allows users to move between Resources, folders, and subfolders.
To rename a folder:
Locate the folder.
Open its three-dot menu.
Select Rename.
Enter the new name.
Confirm the change.
For example, rename:
Graphing Applets
to:
Algebra and Graphing Applets
Renaming a folder changes its organizational label. It does not change the titles of the Resources inside it.
A folder can be moved into another folder.
To move a folder:
Open the folder’s three-dot menu.
Select Move to.
Select the destination folder.
Confirm the move.
You may also be able to move folders using drag and drop. GeoGebra’s folder menu supports renaming, deleting, and moving folders.
Use this feature when reorganizing your folder structure without moving each Resource individually.
To move a Resource out of its current folder:
Open the folder containing the Resource.
Open the Resource’s three-dot menu.
Select Move to.
Select a different folder or the main Resources area.
Confirm the move.
Moving a Resource does not delete it. It only changes where the Resource is organized within your account.
To delete a folder:
Open the folder’s three-dot menu.
Select Delete.
Read the confirmation message carefully.
Confirm only when you are certain the folder is no longer needed.
Before deleting a folder:
Review the Resources it contains.
Move any Resources you want to keep.
Confirm whether the deletion will affect the folder’s contents.
Avoid deleting a folder only because its name or location is incorrect; rename or move it instead.
Use a consistent folder structure so that Resources are easy to locate.

Consistent titles make Resources easier to find using sorting and search tools.
GeoGebra constructions may also be saved as .ggb files on a device. Offline copies can be useful when:
You need a backup.
You will work without internet access.
You want to transfer a construction between devices.
You need to upload the applet into another GeoGebra Activity.
The exact download or offline-save option depends on the app and device being used. GeoGebra’s mobile apps support saving files locally, and .ggb files can be reopened in compatible GeoGebra apps.
An offline file does not replace the need to organize the online Resource connected to your account.
