History of the Organization

Establishment (2017)

The Writers Philippines Organization was established on July 24, 2017, as the result of an idea conceived by Abdiel Velasquez (Ayel Greigh) to address the requirements of writers and aid in the promotion of their works. Initially, the organization prioritized authors, but as time went on, support for artists and journalists was also given. As a result, the organization has three departments: Admins, Critics, and Editors, as well as two teams: Moderators and Journalists (divided to three groups: Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram).

Early years, Term of the First Main Ambassador Jess (July 24, 2017 - May 22, 2018)

The organization's founder and chief executive officer, Ayel, was unable to give time instantly, therefore the process of laying the organization's foundation was difficult. As a result, on April 3, 2018, his secretary and second-in-command, Jess, took over his responsibilities and was elevated to the position of Main Ambassador.

Even though the organization's early years may not have been fruitful or dynamic, meetings and light activities were nonetheless held there. The company oversaw ten admin accounts with one admin on each from 2017 to 2018 in order to educate Wattpad writers. Critics and Editors, two new departments (formerly known as "teams"), were established at the end of 2018 and the beginning of 2019.

Term of Second Main Ambassador Andeng (May 23, 2018 - April 24, 2021)

Jess had to step down and continue serving as the organization's Head Ambassador, which at the time was the second-highest post after Main Ambassador. On May 23, 2018, Kudos Andeng, her secretary, was elevated to the position of Main Ambassador.

The WritersPH Annual Awards 2018, the organization's first major endeavor, was formally planned and carried out in 2018. The competition, where a few members took part, was a success, with @PogingBlack's comedy "The Anatomy of Vio Lakosta" winning the title. During these years, the group grew more active, particularly in 2020 when the pandemic started and a surge in new members was observed. The group also organized a number of significant events, such as the WritersPH Graphic Contest 2019 and the WritersPH Annual Awards 2020, where @Aeonjinxx won champion for their work on "Enigma" (Mystery).

As the organization's founder, Ayel, rejoined the workforce and helped Kudos Andeng manage and launch fresh ideas and concepts for the development and advancement of the group and its members, the foundation of the organization solidified. The former Head of Moderators AC, Jess, Admins Ambassadress Kath, Critics Ambassadress Jai, and Kudos Andeng all announced their resignations on April 24, 2018.

Term of Third Main Ambassador and First President Gea (April 30, 2021 - May 21, 2022)

As the former Main Ambassador Kudos Andeng vacated the position, she recommended Gea, the Editors Ambassadress and secretary of the organization, and former co-leader of Editors, to be the third Main Ambassador (later on changed to President). Gea officially assumed the office of the President in April 30, 2021.

Her term was known for several reform occurrences, such as creation of the organization's official newsletter through establishing a Journalists Team in October 2021, and initiation and approval for the organization break from October 2021 to January 2022. The Constitution and By-laws of the organization was ratified in January 22, 2022 during her term.

Some of the most significant events and projects that she oversaw includes the fourth anniversary celebration of the organization, the WritersPH Graphic Contest 2021, Fright Night 2021, and the first consecutive general workshops and collaboration of the members of the organization that ended in March 2022.

President Gea's term ended in May 21, 2022 when Ayel take over the office for bigger responsibilities and pushing larger platforms for the welfare of the organization.

Term of Second President Ayel (May 22, 2022 - Present)

As he became more active and responsible, Ayel regained the trust of the organization in May 22, 2022 when he assumed the office of the President supported by his predecessor, and now Deputy President Gea.

Since the start of his administration, the organization has established alliances with numerous literary and internet groups, such as the Fanhwaan Literary Awards and Eternal Pages Publishing. The one-shot narrative by @Highly FavoreDii, "Awaiting His Time" (Short Story), won the third edition of The WritersPH Awards 2022 (formerly known as The WritersPH Annual Awards), which was declared successful throughout his term.

In the present, the development for the organization's program and services is still the top priority of his term amidst the resume of actual classes and works after the severe restrictions caused by the pandemic. The members may appear inactive for the meantime, but the organization vows to stay firm as it stands for the writers, artists, and Filipinos.
