History of Large-Format Paintings
Public Library, Regional Chamber of the Commune of Książ Wlkp., University of World Enthusiasts
July 12, 2023
A mural will soon appear on the wall of the Regional Chamber of the Commune of Książ Wlkp. as part of the project "White and red - national symbols in the local history of Książ Wlkp." co-financed by the "Niepodległa" Office under the "National Symbols of the Republic of Poland" Grant Program. As part of this activity, mural workshops are also being carried out with Marek Maksimovich and Jarosław Ptak, its contractors. They are attended by representatives of local educational institutions, the University of World Enthusiasts association, the "Kosynierzy" Reconstruction Group and the Gogolewo Manor.
These meetings are aimed not only at introducing the subject of large-format paintings, but also at developing a concept for a patriotic painting in Książ Wlkp. The first of the workshops at the Culture Centre is behind us, during which mural artists talked about the history of murals, which began many thousands of years ago in caves and on walls. They also mentioned that the first murals appeared in Poland in the times of the Polish People's Republic. However, at that time they had more of an advertising function, and their form did not resemble the current face of street art.
The initial concept of the mural was also discussed.

We already know what the mural graphics on the wall of the Regional Chamber of the Książ Wlkp. Commune will look like! During the last workshop at the Cultural Center, the team working on its concept determined the details. The initial proposal was presented by the creators of the large-format painting, Mark Maksimovich and Jarosław Ptak, and the rest of the meeting participants shared their opinions on the matter. It will feature figures related to the Battle of Książ, the 175th anniversary of which falls this year. We are talking about Major Florian Dąbrowski and Emilia Szczaniecka, a Polish social and national activist. In addition, there will be two buildings that stand out in Książ Wlkp. not only architecturally, but also symbolically, i.e. two churches.
Due to the fact that the project “White and red – national symbols in the local history of Książ Wlkp.” was co-financed by the “Niepodległa” Office as part of the “National Symbols of the Republic of Poland” Grant Program, the mural must also feature national symbols: the emblem – the White Eagle, the white-red colors and the anthem – Dąbrowski's Mazurka. And you will see the effects soon! 😊

Although the prepared project of the patriotic mural on the wall of the Regional Chamber of the Książ Wlkp. Commune will be transferred by mural artists specializing in this, members of the team developing it had the opportunity to personally make it in a micro version. 😊 At the last workshop, they received a specially prepared auxiliary grid on A3 sheet of paper from Marek Maksimovich and Jarosław Ptak, and on it prepared outlines of a large-format image. The rest of the task belonged to amateur artists. 😉 In addition, the workshop participants could make other drawings on the wall based on templates brought by mural artists.
