Work with Pride
W Osaka is promoting various initiatives based on Marriott International’s (hereafter Marriott) Serve 360 approach to building a sustainable society, and its policies on promoting Diversity & Inclusion. The company fosters an environment where employees with diverse identities—such as women, people with disabilities, elderly individuals, people of various nationalities, and those from the LGBTQ+ community—respect and empower one another. Through this mutual recognition and empowerment, W Osaka strongly demonstrates one of the core passions of the W brand: the stance that embraces individual differences. The aim is to build an organization where everyone can maximize their potential.
Integrating Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI) into Marriott’s DNA is essential for the company’s success. Marriott’s goal is to become a global leader in DEI, creating opportunities that instill a sense of belonging for all who walk through its doors.
Marriott’s approach to DEI begins with leadership. The Inclusivity & Social Impact Committee (ISIC) at the board level oversees Marriott’s people-first culture, employee well-being and inclusion, and other environmental, social, and governance (ESG) strategies, initiatives, and commitments.
Marriott’s DEI goals include:
Creating an inclusive environment for employees, customers, guests, suppliers, and owners.
Increasing the representation of women and people of color at the vice president level and above.
Recognizing and supporting diverse individuals and establishing a supportive, inclusive workplace environment.
Employees:
W Osaka’s commitment to DEI is closely aligned with its talent strategy, which consists of three key elements: "Developing great leaders," "Investing in employees," and "Access to opportunities." This strategy aims to create an environment where employees can grow.
Guests:
W Osaka believes in welcoming everyone and offering an inclusive guest experience as part of its commitment to connecting people through the power of travel.
As a Marriott brand, W Osaka is committed to promoting inclusion and equality, creating a positive, sustainable impact wherever it operates. The hotel is dedicated to nurturing the world, maintaining responsible operations, empowering individuals through opportunities, and welcoming all guests. Through LoveTravels, W Osaka invites guests to join its journey toward making the global community a better place to live, work, and visit.
| Marriott’s Initiatives |
During Pride 2022, Marriott launched "LoveTravels with Love Letters". About 500 letters were sent, and $100,000 was donated to LGBTQ+ charities.
Marriott led the sponsorship of Pharrell Williams’ "Something in the Water" festival in Washington D.C., where the company’s Chief Sales & Marketing Officers from the U.S. and Canada discussed Marriott’s efforts to increase diverse leadership in the hospitality industry.
Marriott is also proud to be a platinum sponsor of the UnidosUS Annual Conference, supporting important gatherings of community and business leaders, young advocates, and supporters addressing issues impacting the Latino community.
The company is actively exploring opportunities to improve hotel accessibility for people with disabilities. Through the "Room for All" initiative, Marriott works closely with the disabled community to enhance the travel experiences of disabled guests by evaluating room designs.
