Welcome to World History. This is a general survey of World History structured in alignment with the IB Middle Years Program (MYP). Our approach is thematic begining with introductory work in our Social Studies skills, then moving through the current themes of Empires, ISMs, and Revolution. We will begin with the classical age and look at how empires develop and shape the current world.
Given the length of history we will be covering over this semester, it is essential that you attend and participate. This means participate in the fullness of the word, completing all assignments and homework on time, keeping pace with reading assignments in your textbook and primary source readings.
The most successful student will participate beyond mere attendance and basic completion of assignments. You are expected to engage, ask questions when you do not understand, are uncertain about material we are covering, or have a different perspective on the history we are studying. This class will be more than stating facts and dates, we are working to understand and analyze how the past shapes our present.
