Project

 Think GREEN - work STEAM

NORDPLUS program project is being implemented

"Think GREEN - work STEAM"

The importance of environmental education in schools is very important, especially in this

critical period for nature. For this common purpose educational institutions from Lithuania and Estonia (Šiauliai "Romuvos" pro-gymnasium from Lithuania and Haabersti Vene Gymnaasium from Estonia) created the project "Think Green - Work STEAM" (No. 2022/10058), project period 2022/09-2023/08. The goal of the project: to educate our non-consumerist attitude towards nature in students, to teach them to respect the natural environment and be responsible for a greener future.

Participating schools will use a new approach to environmental education, which is effective and relevant for students - learning by doing. This project will organize joint learning activities and 2 mutual mobility "Class exchange" for 11-12-year-old students (5th grade). Innovative STEAM activities will help students to feel connected to nature, its preservation, sustainability. STEAM activities in the areas of sustainability are very elastically interrelated, therefore in the project participating students will develop their sustainability competencies by changing values system, protecting nature, researching, hypothesizing, and justifying them. The results of the project are to change the attitude towards the environment,

to protect it, to develop the skills of sustainability.

(2022-11-02)

Nordplus project "Think Green - Work STEAM" is starting. During school holidays

The teachers who participate in the project - Indrė Gailienė and Rita Nemanienė were preparing the meeting for guests from Estonia and formed groups of students participating in the project. Teachers shared contacts to help the participants to get to know each other in a better way. The students from Siauliai “Romuvos” progymnasium not only enjoyed the autumn holidays, but they also have started to communicate with their new friends from Estonia by e-mail. Now we are looking forward to the next stage of the project, when the guests will arrive in Lithuania and we will be able to start doing various activities related to STEAM and sustainable environment, we will learn to consume less, to respect the natural environment and we will be more responsible for a greener future.

The research of air pollution  2023  February

The 5th graders of Šiauliai „Romuvos“ Progymnasium, who are participating in the Nordplus exchange project "Think Green - Work Steam", conducted a research during which they looked for, examined and analyzed lichens that can be found in the environment. It was a very interesting experience for the students, they got to know various types of lichens and learned that their appearance is influenced by air pollution. This has sparked endless curiosity for the fifth graders and they are looking forward to further research and various engaging project activities.

The 5-6 th grades students of Haabersti Vene Gymnasium also have done a reasearch work by topic "Linchens and air polucion". Our students also have got a great experience , they got to know various types of lichens and learned that their appearance is influenced by air pollution. Our result was that the air in the school backyard has a medium quality , that is true, because there is a big road near school.
