Linocut and Woodblock Prints

12"x8" 4-color woodcut, combining the colors of fall bosque foliage and the sunset reflecting off of the mountain.

Originally a 5-color print, the final (or key) plate was omitted to allow the underlying colors to speak for themselves.

Submission for the 2024 Southwest Print Fiesta print exchange

30+ artists participated in a call for prints to Silver City, NM, host of the Southwest Print Fiesta. Each artist submitted an edition of 40 prints, and will receive, in turn, one copy from each of the artists. The format is 8"x8".

During October, there are many events being held in Silver City, including an opening for the print exchange show, classes in various printmaking techniques, speakers, socials and (of course) a steam roller print event.

This 2-color linocut image is based on several fossils viewed in the Chicago Field Museum during the summer of 2024. While the two plates required general registration, the image is designed to minimize the requirement for precision.

The Antichrist

Created for the exhibition PROTEST 2024!

The show was curated by Martin Art Studios. This entry, titled "The Antichrist," borrows imagery from Luca Signorelli's "Sermon and Deeds of the Antichrist" painted in the Duomo di Orvietto.

The 2024 presidential election has put many people on edge. Without apology, the GOP candidate is directly compared to Signorelli's depiction of the Antichrist, not in visual likeness, but in the motivations behind his words and deeds.

The results of these deeds could be both global and devastating.
