I’m Melanie, founder of WordWise. As both an English language teacher and advocate for displaced people, I’ve seen how communication barriers can isolate even the most skilled professionals and brilliant minds are overlooked due to language anxiety. WordWise combines my 25 years of teaching English, English for Academic Purposes and knowledge of transcultural communication research alongside trauma-informed practices to help others communicate - not just ‘speak’.
WordWise was created to provide a safe, supportive space where displaced individuals can:
Gain confidence in workplace and social settings.
Develop intercultural communication skills to avoid misunderstandings.
Use evidence-based techniques to speak clearly and assertively.
My workshops are trauma-informed - because rebuilding your life in a new language isn’t just about words. It’s about belonging, diginity and being heard.
