Privacy Policy
Last updated: May 4, 2026
WordVia is a reading-based language learning app. It helps you import books, read in a foreign language, translate selected words and sentences, listen to sentence narration, and save words, phrases, notes, bookmarks, and reading progress. This Privacy Policy explains how WordVia handles information when you use the app.
Information Stored on Your Device
WordVia is designed to keep your reading data on your device whenever possible. The app does not require an account. WordVia may store imported books, extracted reading content, reading progress, bookmarks, highlights, notes, saved words, phrases, sentences, app settings, language preferences, display preferences, translation settings, narration settings, downloaded fonts, cache files, temporary files, and local database records. This data is used to provide the app’s reading, translation, narration, vocabulary, and customization features.
Imported Books and Reading Content
Books and documents that you import into WordVia are intended to remain on your device. WordVia does not upload your full library to our own servers. When you use translation or narration features, selected text, words, phrases, or sentences may be sent to the service needed to provide that feature.
Translation Features
WordVia may support translation through third-party translation providers such as Google Translate, Microsoft Translator, DeepL, or another provider configured in the app. When you request a translation, the selected text and language information may be sent to the selected translation provider. That provider may process the request according to its own privacy policy and terms. If you configure a third-party API key, the app may store that key locally on your device so it can make translation requests.
Text-to-Speech and Narration
WordVia may use device, operating system, or third-party text-to-speech features to read selected text or sentences aloud. Depending on your device and selected voice, text-to-speech processing may happen locally on your device or through services provided by your operating system or voice provider.
Fonts and External Resources
WordVia may allow you to download optional fonts or other resources. When downloading external resources, your device may contact the relevant host. Those services may receive standard network information such as your IP address, device request metadata, and requested file URL.
App Permissions
WordVia may request permissions only when needed for app functionality. Depending on your device and platform, these may include file or storage access for importing books or documents, photo or media access if required for selecting files or images, internet access for translation and font downloads, and foreground service or media playback access so narration can continue while reading. You can manage app permissions in your device settings.
Analytics, Advertising, and Tracking
The current build of WordVia does not use remote advertising SDKs and does not send remote analytics events to our servers. The app may keep local logs or local usage records for app functionality and debugging during development. These local records are not used to track you across apps or websites.
Data Sharing
We do not sell your personal information. We do not share your imported books, notes, saved words, or reading progress with advertisers. Data may be shared with third-party services only when needed to provide a feature you use, such as sending selected text to a translation provider. We may also disclose information if required by law or to protect the rights, safety, and security of users or the app.
Data Retention and Deletion
Most WordVia data is stored locally on your device. You can delete books, notes, saved words, cached files, or app data using in-app controls where available or through your device settings. Uninstalling the app may delete locally stored data, depending on your operating system and backup settings.
Third-Party Services
WordVia may interact with third-party services when specific features are used. These services may include translation providers, operating system text-to-speech services, font delivery services, app stores, or payment providers if purchases are added in the future. We do not control the privacy practices of third-party services.
Security
We use reasonable technical measures to keep app data local where possible and to limit data processing to the features you choose to use. However, no app, device, network, or storage method can be guaranteed to be completely secure.
Children’s Privacy
WordVia is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13.
Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we make changes, we will update the “Last updated” date above.
