Featured Carver - Joe McConnell

Northwest Carving Association is proud to announce Joe McConnell as our Featured Carver for our 44th Annual Artistry in Wood Show.

Joe has been carving Northwest Native-Style relief and 3-dimensional pieces since 1993. He has received numerous awards. His carvings include masks, bowls, rattles, paddles, and totem poles.

Joe studied under Jim Ploegman for 8 years and now teaches students in his Beaver Lake Woodworks studio in Sammamish. He provides the knowledge, understanding, tools, and skills to help each student turn raw wood into beautiful art. Many of Joe's students have been with him for 15-20 years.

Joe will be bringing many of his pieces carved over his long career. Come by and admire his art, get a few tips, and even observe some of his students work on their current projects.

Art of Woodcarving with Cecily Bishop

Master Carver and past NWCA Featured Carver, Cecily teaches beginner and experienced woodcarvers alike. In Cecily's classes, she focuses on tools, wood selection, and carving techniques, Form Line design, and three-dimensional carving. Morning and evening class details can be found here.

Capitol Woodcarvers Association

Our fellow woodcarvers from Salem will join us to show off their creative approach to large wood carving projects - Crowd Sourcing. Drop by and see what they're up to. Also find out more about their club and classes.

Dale's Scroll Saw Works

Dale Fletcher will show and sell his Scroll Saw art. He'll also create custom name tags with his scroll saw on site. Reach out to Dale at Dalefletcher@comcast.net

Gem Tree Sculpture by Dana James

Dana, artist and author, will show her beautiful collection of wire tree sculptures adorned with gems and beads. These GemTrees are a form of Lapidary art. View her instructional videos here.
