'Yard of the Month' Awards

PURPOSE:

The purpose of the Yard of the Month competition is to promote goodwill and recognize exemplary lawn and property beautification in the Woodberry Forest Neighborhood. The competition will recognize those who demonstrate efforts to maintain and improve their property in a manner that contributes to the overall appearance of the community.

GUIDELINES:

The Landscaping Award will be presented for the months of April through September. The Holiday Decor Award will be presented for the months of October & December. “Yard of the Month” sign will be placed in the yard on the 1st day of the month and will be removed by the committee on the 1st day of the following month. The same property cannot receive more than one award in the same category within a 24-month period. The property of all current residents of Woodberry Forest, both owner occupied and rental, are eligible to participate in the program.

CRITERIA:

Yard of the Month Award (April through September)

The Yard of the Month Award for landscaping is judged on the exterior appearance of the property as viewed from the street. Yards will be judged on neatness, landscaping and color. Overall appearance and factors to be considered are: healthy lawn, neatly mowed and edged; pruned and trimmed shrubs; healthy, living plants; minimum weeds in flower beds; yard free of debris and clutter.

Holiday Decor Award (October & December)

The Holiday Decor Award is judged on the creative use of lights, decorations and overall presentation of decor on the front of the property. General upkeep of the yard is also considered. Decorations should be in place by the 3rd Saturday in October & December to be considered.
