This cocktail of change has me a bit restless and searching for a focus for my teaching and parenting. And, after nearly thirteen years of parenting both my oldest and Tinkergarten, it comes down to one word: wonder.

How can we help kids strengthen their wonder muscles for the long haul? In short, practice! Wonder in action begets more wonder. As Rachel Carson makes clear in my all time fave, The Sense of Wonder, wonder is a joyous marveling at how new insight not only helps kids make more sense of the world, but it reveals an even wider set of discoveries to explore and find.

Reflecting back on my time in schools, there were moments of wonder, but the system was increasingly optimized for the rather rapid acquisition of discrete skills and coverage of content, often at the expense of wonder. It's no surprise that wonder fades as a result. Parenting, especially while growing Tinkergarten, has brought a lot of wonder. Yet, as kids grow, life has gotten busy and we have to work at making space to wonder.

Yes, perhaps this is the most important part of all. Each moment of discovery and awe not only helps kids develop understanding, but it helps them regard the amazing in the world around us. How beautiful, intricate, coordinated and f-ing magical* our world truly is.

No matter how or why you think we all got here, ours is a mind-blowing home, and there is so much for which we can be grateful. With all of the truly heavy stuff we are facing, the more we can help kids detect the beauty, the joy and the goodness in the world and in one another, the better for us all!

Entertainment on the open road just reached a new level, with adaptable furniture that converts from living-to-lounge mode to enjoy shows and movies on the Smart TV with sound bar. At night, curl up with a good book or gaze at the stars above through the large picture windows found throughout the Wonder.

I already consider this Christmas a win for our family. Our boys were able to visit Santa, and sit on his lap, shedding exactly zero tears. Total success. I could stand back and simply observe as my boys so effortlessly experienced the wonder of the season. Not just with Santa, but in other ways too.

Find some time this Christmas to remember, to revel in, to soak in the mystery and majesty that the God who hung the stars, the God who pitched the sky, the God who holds the oceans, the God who counts the sand, entered the world He made, in hopes we might catch a glimpse of the mighty love He has for us.

Kevin Arnold - The Narrator: Things never turn out exactly the way you planned. I know they didn't with me. Still, like my father used to say, 'Traffic's traffic, you go where life takes you' and growing up happens in a heartbeat. One day you're in diapers, the next you're gone, but the memories of childhood stay with you for the long haul. I remember a time a place, a particular fourth of July, the things that happened in that decade of war and change. I remember a house like a lot of houses, a yard like a lot of yards, on a street like a lot of other streets. I remember how hard it was growing up among people and places I loved. Most of all, I remember how hard it was to leave. And the thing is, after all these years I still look back in wonder.

I am helping an aunt plan a family cruise for 2025. We are looking at Oasis class ships. I have been able to find some sailings for Oasis and for Symphony, but we're not able to find sailings for Wonder of the Seas for the latter part of 2025. I did see the Wonder sailings up through late spring, but not the summer yet. A lot of you folks are in the know about these kinds of things. ? When do you think the latter half of 2025 will be released for Wonder? Does anyone have any idea where she might be sailing during the summer or during the 2025 holiday season? It would work best for us if she is still sailing out of Florida. But I see that Royal has been moving their ships around to other departure points like the Symphony out of New Jersey and other ships out of Texas. She wants to book June, Thanksgiving, or Christmas 2025 on the Wonder.

Wonderful, thank you so much. I am looking at thr June dates. Oddly, there is a 7 day sailing on June 18 and a 7 day sailing on June 22. That math does not add up. They have two different itineraries, but the number of days between those dates isn't 7, hmmm. Am I reading those dates wrong?

And a lot if revenue for them. Those short sailings on Utopia are priced pretty hefty. (Yes, I know it's a new ship.) I want to try Utopia but man, just 4 days seems like such a waste for that type of ship. I know folks say we can just book a B2B, but those sailings are so overpriced. So, I would be booking two overpriced short sailings just to get what should be one sailing anyway on an Oasis class ship. My thought is that they could let the older Oasis class ships change to short cruises and let the newer ships keep longer itineraries. Oh well. I know that has already been discussed on this site so I don't want to sidetrack my own thread. My goal for this thread is to figure out when we can book the Wonder for a 7 night cruise for a family cruise in 2025. Looks like we should do that in June as soon as all the kids in the family finish school.

Does anyone know what the itinerary for the May 18, June 15, June 29, etc dates will be? I can see some of it, but the side of the pic cuts off. I'm wondering if it's the same 4 port sailing that includes Cozumel, Costa Maya, Honduras, and Coco Cay that Wonder is doing in the spring. Thanks

Probably should have said June/July. In any case, you can make out most of the text for those dates you mentioned. It shows Costa Maya, an "R" (Roatan), and a 2nd Mexico stop (which would be Cozumel).

Yep. That's a great word for it. I'm trying to help an aunt plan a family cruise. I've cruised a lot more than everyone that wants to go. I'm looking at the prices saying, omg, I wouldn't even pay that for some of these itineraries so I certainly don't want to ask a whole family group to have to pay that price. I just sailed on Celebrity Ascent for less than some of these Royal ship prices. They are too inflated.

We have a Retreat Sky Suite booked on Equinox for next January that was about $2,000 less than a JS on Star (and about the same price as a balcony cabin) sailing the same week, and on Equinox everything is included - on Star you get nada.

Typically the 4/3 rotation out of PC is Monday/Friday and Friday/Monday departure, and the 7 nights out of T1 are always a Sunday departure. Currently, Allure is doing a 4/3 Monday/Friday and Wonder is doing 7 night Eastern/Western Sunday/Sunday rotation out of T1.

Harnessing the idea of wonder as a thematic metaphor, the exhibition featured both existing and new works by twenty-three international artists, each touching on certain facets of wonder, including: the perceptual/ visionary, the technological/scientific, the philosophical/meditative, time/cosmos, and illusion/fear.

Jonathan Allen (London, England) is an artist and writer whose work addresses the various magics at play within late modernity. His work has been featured in many exhibitions, live projects, and publications, most recently at Tate Britain, Frankfurter Kunstverein, and David Risley Gallery. He is an associate curator at The Magic Circle Museum, London. jonathanallen.info

Jason de Haan (Calgary, Alberta) creates sculptures, drawings, and videos that recognize potential in various unconventional systems, objects, and sets of conditions. Often incorporating non-human forces, temporal shifts, and unforeseen outcomes, de Haan seeks spaces where the invisible, serendipitous, and residual reveal their contingencies. He is represented by Clint Roenisch Gallery, Toronto, ON. jasondehaan.net 152ee80cbc
