2nd WORKSHOP ON

VIOLENCE AGAINST WOMEN: DRIVERS AND POLICIES

Barcelona, October 1-2, 2025

The European Research Council (ERC) WomEmpower project and the Barcelona Institute of Economics (IEB) will host their 2nd Workshop on Violence Against Women: Drivers and Policies on October 1 and 2, 2025. The workshop aims to bring together original research that uses population-based data from a wide variety of sources (for example, hospital records; police records; or face-to-face survey interviews) and aims at better understanding which factors, policies, or interventions increase or decrease the risk of victimization or perpetration against women and/or female partners. Studies that identify the mechanisms driving IPV in high-income countries and the population subgroups most at risk of victimization in those countries will be prioritized. Research on low- and middle-income countries will also be considered. The accepted papers will be presented in contributed sessions. There will be two plenary sessions.

Registration and Further Information

Papers must be submitted by email (ieb.workshop@ub.edu) in PDF format indicating in the subject the name of the workshop (‘Violence against women’). There are no registration fees. We will cover your accommodation for two nights. We will also cover breakfast and lunch on both days and will host a conference dinner on Wednesday, October 1. Presenting authors are expected to cover their travel expenses (airfare, train tickets, taxi, and public transportation). Limited travel funds may be available upon request for authors without institutional or grant support. If you require financial assistance, please indicate this when submitting your paper. Non-presenting participants will be invited as long as they cover their travel and accommodation costs. As the number of places available for non-presenting participants is limited, interested researchers should contact the organizers using this email (ieb.workshop@ub.edu).
