The first known Baptist work in Wolf Creek was a mission of the Yellow Creek Baptist Church in 1856.
The Fellowship Church of Meigs County came to our community and worshiped in a log house near Tilley's Branch. In 1859 a new building was erected where the log house stood, and was called Zion. In a few years, Zion members disbanded; some started a church at Sulphur Springs; others began meeting at Privet Springs School. This latter group eventually became our Wolf Creek Baptist Church.
In October 1869, 13 people with dis-mission letters, and have petitioned Yellow Creek, Sulphur Springs, Bethel, and Hinds Valley for Elders to meet for the purpose of constitution of a Missionary Baptist Church of Christ.
A new building was constructed near the Monroe and Ruby Moffett home in 1874.
In 1881 land was acquired for a school and church for Privet Springs Baptist Church. This building was near the Watts Bar and Stage roads intersect.
On October 24th, 1900, Massie Scarborough deeded about an acre of land to the church and a building was erected. This building was at the the present church site. The name of Privet Springs Baptist Church was changed to Wolf Creek Baptist Church in 1901. Fire destroyed this building in 1917. A new frame building was completed in January of 1918. The church membership outgrew the building, and a building fund was started in October 1949. The new church building was dedicated on July 1, 1951.
During 1961 Wolf Creek Baptist Church purchased the Hickey Community Church and a mission was started. Fire destroyed this building in December of 1963. The building was not replaced.
One half acre of land was given by Monroe and Ruby Moffett for a new Pastorium. The Pastorium was dedicated on October 2cd, 1966.
In 1980 a new and larger sanctuary was approved. Ground was broken on August 10th, 1983, and the Sanctuary Dedication Service was held on October 30th, 1983.
