Volunteering is a fantastic way of building experience for your self, gaining confidence in new skills and obtaining transferable skills that can help with future work. There are number of volunteering roles locally open to those aged 16 and above. There are options to volunteer with the Me2 Club, Scouting and Guiding and other roles such as:
Charity shops e.g. British Heart Foundation, Thames Hospice, First Days, Wade and more
Conservation/Environmental e.g. Holt Copse Conservation, Lavell Wetland Trust (Dinton Pastures) Friends of Fox Hill Conservation.
Sport/outdoor e.g. Park runs at Woodley, Dinton Pastures
Elderly/Care homes - some of the care homes in Borough will take U18s to chat with the residents/do activities (you would need to check with them directly.)
Visit their volunteering portal website and search for roles www.volunteerwokinghamborough.org.uk - or you can chat to the Volunteer Services Manager who would be happy to chat through any opportunity and help search for what you are looking for - Helena Badger, 0118 977 0749 or volunteer@wok-vol.org.uk
