Memorable Milestones for the WNBA

In the 2024 season, the viewership had a standout season that attracted an all-time record of more than 54 million unique viewers across ABC, CBS, ESPN, ESPN2, ION and NBA TV. This was the most-viewed regular season ever across ESPN platforms with an average of 1.19 million viewers, a 170% increase from last season. There was also an increase in attendance in the 2024 season that held the highest total attendance in 22 years (2,353,735), up 48% from last season. The league had a total of 154 sellouts which is a 242% increase. The chart below shows the increase in viewership from 2021 to 2024. This is only showing the first five games of the 2024 season according to Vox. This is essential to see the growth over in four seasons of this just being viewership. 

Player Highlights

• Caitlin Clark set WNBA records for most assists both in a season at 337 and in a game, she had 19. She was the first rookie in WNBA history to record two triple-doubles along with another rookie record of single-season points at 769. She also had another single-season rookie record of 122 three-pointers made.

• The fastest player to score 5,000 career points in 242 games was Breanna Stewart a New York Liberty forward.

• A'ja Wilson from the Las Vegas Aces set multiple league single season records in the 2024 season. She has a scoring average 26.9 points per game, total points of 1,021 and had a total of 451 rebounds. Wilson also led the WNBA in the season with total points scored, rebounds, and blocks which she scored 98.
