Starting at the Marquis Drive visitors Centre, there are two coloured markers to follow (red and Blue) which lead off towards the Brindley Heath section of Cannock Chase, The red is the shorter trail, the blue medium and then an extension at the far end of the blue can be found by picking up a green marker trail. This video walks the blue marker post walk, which is just over two miles long and with a few small gradients to navigate along the way.
DISTANCE: 2.25 Miles
TERRAIN: Easy, Mostly good paths with a few slight gradients
THE WALK: Starting at Marquis Drive visitors centre, look for the marker post painted blue at the top and red underneath, follow this so you are walking away from the visitors centre with the car park on your left and children's play area to your right, this leads out onto a small road (Marquis Drive) cross the road and pick up the path again on the opposite side, follow the path across the field as it bears left and leads out into Brindley Heath Road, cross the road and pick up the pathway again on the opposite side. at the small car park bear right and look for a path on the opposite side, from here on the markers are clear, follow the red/blue until they split, choose either the shorter red by turning left at the crossroads or continue with the blue which will lead you to Brindley Bottom car park, then takes you away and soon when you have to take a sharp left at a junction you will see the green markers pointing straight ahead, this is a longer extension route, if following the blue you pass down a long straight path with rhododendrons alongside and pass the entrance to a former hospital site (at blue marker 14) follow the markers looking for them as one was hidden by brambled when we walked the trail and eventually the green route rejoins, and continues to Duffields car park (We saw a marker to our left before this car park and thought there was a marker missing so turned off, a little short cut) but apparently the route continues to the car park and then back out to the marker we saw), here the red route rejoins and the route makes it way back up to Brindley Heath Road, cross the road and pick up the path again which soon bears left and heads back to the car park at Marquis Drive visitors centre.
